WAR (Warhammer Online)

Ok... here are the results of my survey. I've calculated the average playing time in WAR and WoW. Take these results with a grain of salt ofc but they do offer an interesting solution to why Mythic opened up with too many servers:

WoW: 3.67 hrs/day

WAR: 2.76 hrs/day

I have multiplied average times for each category (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 and 6 respectively) and shaved off 10% out of <1 hr to allow for "I like pie" crowd.

It seems that Mythic calculated the number of servers required for the expected population based on WoW average play times. In addition MBJ recently said on VN boards that they may have erred on the side of caution - opening too many servers EVEN without taking into account decreased play/day times they couldn't have predicted anyway.

Also consider that WAR's playing times at release are quite a bit lower than WoW's after 4 years... I suppose Mythic had an even higher estimation of WAR's play times immediately post-release than WoW's are right now.

And this concludes my humble research.

Lol how dumb of me... I am the one usually flaming people to put an "I love pie" option for those interested about the results but outside the target population..

Hmm, I guess answering "<1" won't skew the results too much so just choose that one for both polls if you want to see the results.

Yeah, ofc. It is only the average time played / day that interests me.

I mean I could post those separate polls for both games into their respective forums but imo this factor of "played both games" might be significant as well.

When I was playing WoW, usually between 3-5 hours, but I didn't play everyday.

With WAR it was about 1-2 hours per day.

While I did play WoW more per day than I do WAR it doesn't mean anything in the bigger picture of things. I felt I NEEDED to play WoW more to keep up with others and be competitive. I don't feel this way with WAR...which is a good thing.

i play a little less war than i used to wow, not counting random binge days. but thats mainly because it feels more rewarding in that shorter play time so i can indulge in other activities too lol.
