other than the warden, which I understand will be a tank capable of using a spear or polearm, are there any other classes that are proficient with these weapons?

Captains can use polearms, Guardians and Hunters can use spears.

The thing that sucks about spears is that they use the same animations as swords, so it looks pretty dumb when you fight with one.
