"Next time i log in SWG ill probably see elves and druids" |
i played WoW for 1 month and a half (perhaps 2 max 3) when it first launched and i did not like it at all and quit playing it. every since then once in a while i get this awfull craving to reinstall the game and resub. what i find weird is 1 never really liked the warcraft series 2 did not like the game play 3 only played for 2 months max 3 and still to this day (yesterday) i got an awfull craving to reinstall the game and play world of warcraft. something is really fishy IMHO something subliminal maybe? a visual psychologically addicting shape? audio? both?
has this every hapened to anyone else (not necesarely with WoW) |

There comes a time in every little boys life when they start to notice these changes. It is normal and nothing to worry about. When your father gets home we will get him to sit down with you and have a nice chat. Its ok tommy nothing to get upset over. Oh also, the tin foil (aluminum foil for some) is over there ----->

Immersion i think is the word hope i spell right Spanish IS my first language. But yes Immersion is the word I think. WoW is a BIG open world It immerses you into it. It embraces you. You want to explore a cave or a dungeon go for it? Take that chance to find hidden treasure chest, or skin some Yeti that you need to craft that new peace of armor! It feels alive it feels like a WORLD not a instence not Mini world of warcraft not Room of warcraft WORLD OPEN WORLD of warcraft with tons of areas to explore a lot of little things that make you feel like you are part of it.
This is mainly the only reason I still sometimes re install the game for a month..then I get the 10 year olds crying on chat..and I unsubscribe for a year... |

Because WoW is electronic crack Seriously, I think the reason you want to play is because something about it attracts you somehow. Despite what the haters may say, WoW is a good game. Most of the bashing is due to fact many folks are burnt out and it is somehow Blizzard's fault the current crop of new MMOs are lackluster. WoW has excellent lore and environments. Much of which is catchy and fun. The dialogue and the story is quite good, if a bit corny, and WoW is it catchy. "For the Horde", the murloc sound, and the sayings the Goblins say are things I have heard people parrot in real life; out of game. WoW is like an old song that everyone knows and there is comfort in that. The very thing that causes WoW much criticism is the very thing that sucks people in: It is easy to play and it is fun. There is something to be said about logging in after a long day and simply goofing around doing quests with no stress or worry. Sure, WoW is auto shoot, point and click, but sometimes that is just what the doctor ordered. The downside is that very ease of play contributes to a lack of depth that makes it very easy to burn out and tire of WoW. This happens to me. I play, enjoy it, then I begin to tire of it and cancel my account. After a while I get a hankering to play again and re subscribe till I burn out again. I liken WoW to a fast food burger: I love em, but if I eat nothing but them, I get tired of burgers really quick, yet, if I go a while without eating one, I get a craving to have one again and so it goes on. I think the reason WoW does this and not SWG or EQ is that ease of play factor combined with the fact the SWG is very much changed and EQ is rather outdated; whereas WoW (as dated as it is) is still given fresh infusions of content. The other main difference is that WoW is solo-able. I know it is fashionable to bash solo MMO playing these days, but it sure is nice to be able to play without going through the LFG song and dance everytime or deal with guild drama. This is, of course, my feelings on it and others may have a totally different take. |

I cannot know for sure, but it may be peer pressure of a sort. I mean, about everyone is playing or has played World of Warcraft and the media is choked full with it as well, so you cannot step a meter in a gamer-related environment that you will come into contact with WoW. Even when I was not playing the game, my friends were, for example, and they would chat between themselves about this or that they did in the game. Game magazines had all sort of previews on WoTLK recently and even if they don't you can bet there is a mention to WoW somewhere in the magazine, maybe in some other MMOs review. In short, WoW has reached critical mass and is now a bit omnipresent, like football. Even if you do not like football, you cannot but know about it. So my theory is that all this mass of information and constant exposure to it is somehow enticing you to play. Makes more sense than the subliminal theory for sure, I say.... mostly because if such a thing would be possible, SOE or EA would have been doing that for years now :D |

I played off and on and tried countless other games and Ive given up and dropped everything to go back to FFXI. Tired of games that hold your hand and have sparkle's on everything that you need to click on. LOL what a joke.lol I mean Jebus don't people like to use there brains anymore? Instead of having everything handed to them on silver platters? |
