No Risk, No Reward, No Subscription.

This post is not a troll attempt, i want to understand peoples view on this subject.. im going to post a question and I'm not trying to piss anyone off:

Where are the pre-orders? If Darkfall is a buggy mess with less than half the content promised. If it has been in development for to long (up to 7-8 years). Are they could to release it in this state, after giving years of their life, spending immense amounts of money and resources. Are they going to release the game hype free (not talking about players, talking about the company) and let everyone know how crappy it is before deciding to purchase it?

No one would buy it, they would lose an immense amount of money, they would have to do a pre-order scheem....but there isnt one..

No one is optimistic enough to release an unplayable game with no advertising and expect it to make any money... so how does this make sense?

No preorders.  For what I remember Tasos promised an open and public beta (short but as long as it's needed) where everyone interested will be able to try the game.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating.  I can't see them willingly spending that much time creating something and then releasing a half assed product.

My only concern is that at the end of the day it's not really up to the devs as to when it's released.  Whoevers paid for it has the final say and in todays financial climate investors are willing to write off large amounts of money indiscriminately so a shoddy release could easily happen.

I just hope that the people backing it have as much enthusiasm as the devs do for making a decent game.

Heh, I think both AoC and WAR would have earned a lot of more money without the hype, at least on the long run. Guildwars is the 2nd biggest MMO on X-fire now and the second best selling western MMO ever, still they have not hyped Guildwars 2 that will release next year, they know it will sell.

On the other hand, DF might not be finnished at all and wont release for a long time, who knows? Well, maybe the guys in the beta... But soeculating one thing or another is useless, you just have to wait.

If you''re going to be crazy, you have to get paid for it or else you''re going to be locked up.

If there is one thing I like about this game is that the Developers aren't hypeing it.  I believe a game should speak for its self, I like the Idea of like a free trial befor you buy. I think every MMO should do it.

Playing Guild Wars. Waiting for Fallen Earth and SE new MMO.

You are using your post title as a distraction from the point you are trying to make.  And that point is:

Darkfall has to be a good game.  They have put too much time into it for it to not hold up.  There has been little to no advertising, and can't simply reply on word of mouth.. therefor, the game must be good.

Sadly, you aren't asking an actual question.  You are trying to put a point across based on lack of knowledge rather than fact.   Saying because something must be so, doesn't make it so.

Sure, the proof is in the pudding, but.. you haven't even eaten it yet..

Stop Unjust bannings! Don't report this kind of stuff

Thats not what I'm saying... Darkfall cant be a good game to everyone, many people think Assasins Creed was a good game.. i thought it was terrbile, it did work however...

That the assumption that Darkfall Online is a buggy broken mess also assumes that the Dev's are completely insane because if that were the case, their approach to how they are handling things would be completely irrational, not only that but they are completely insane people who have received a multimillion dollar loan and governmet subsidies .

The approach Darkfall is taking asumes the game works, and that a group of people will enjoy it.. this is in contrast to how the AOC devs approached the release, they knew it sucked.. and they responded accordingly
