Stand up for what you believe; Even if you stand alone.

Consider this.  Most MMORPG's have just ONE or maybe TWO main quests to follow which you usually can't stray from in progression + the random pick-up quests which are peppered throughout the world.

VANGUARD was about what, 26 gigs?  That was a whole huge world right?

SWG was... ? Not even sure anymore to be honest...

AoC which also featured a substantial amount of voice work was is around 30 gigs?

Star Wars: The Old Republic...

- MANY worlds... each with it's own populated areas and huge areas for exploration which BioWare has stated they are trying to support.  You can't really 'explore' if there isn't a vast area out there to do so...

- MANY 'main' quests due to each class having their own main story.  It has been said that if you play as a Jedi for example, you could go through your quest and then play as a SITH and NEVER have the same experience/quest as you did as a Jedi so in essence, this game is like several games in one.  They weren't kidding when they said SW:TOR is like having a KOTOR 3,4,5 etc...

- MANY quest threads, choices and options of how you wish to further your plot.  Each one can take you in a drastically different direction.  That's a lot of quest content... Most MMORPG's, you get a quest, you do your chore, you come back to the quest giver for your reward and  you're on to the next chore... in SW:TOR, your quests branch out... each quest has to have multiple paths so... that's even 'bigger' than usual MMORPG's.

- VOICE ACTING... Who knows if they will indeed use it but it is a BioWare staple.  With the many paths you can take in each quest as well as the companion and NPC characters around the galaxy you'd interact with, that is a HUGE amount of voice work...

- Space... Space is huge and I have a feeling they're working on a way to make sure we get in on all the fun stuff, including space exploration - though this would be more difficult since so much of Star Wars has already been discovered... however if you will remember, REVAN disappeared into unknown regions to see about some huge threat to the galaxy... can't help but wonder how this unknown region will come into play because I'm almost certain it will.

So with all that AND the amount of customization/variety in character races/assets/vehicles etc in mind... how large do you think SW:TOR will be in GIGS?

A lot is going to be what do they really need to hold on the client and what is streamed at certain times. Like quests are not something that are loaded on your machine but really server side. They are also using the Hero Engine so not sure of the full capabilities of it are but I know that changes can be made live and not needing a restart to have the new information loaded.

I am guessing about 20gigs though.

SCIENCE PROVES CAPS LOCK CAN CURE CANCER.

Basically, the only thing we have that we can use to make an honest guess on game size in terms of space on your computer is the engine they are using. We have no idea yet about space exploration, their combat system, the planets and how much detail they'll have, how much exploration we will have (hell, we don't even know whether it is free-ranging or instanced yet), if voice acting will be used, etc.

I'm guessing anywhere from 15 gigs to 40 gigs... as I said, it's pretty much impossible to make any logical hypothesis on size. More then anything they are guesses. If I was to GUESS... it'd be 30 gigs if anyone wants to place bets

Functionless Art is Simply Tolerated Vandalism...

I predict 6-7 GB in size.
