 Some people pay 600-1200 + a year just to watch tv. I spend 180 bucks to keep myself  entertained for the same amount of time , seems fair to me ............

 At first I thought  how limiting a person's game time would be stupid. But then I thought about it ...10 hours a day. Then I got to thinking ....it gives you 8 hours to sleep and another 6 to do whatever. Or you could work for 8 hours and sleep for 6 ...and still get in 10 hours of game time. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if it occured , however I would never lobby for it myself.

I'm working for an antivirus company, so I hope I can shed some light onto the matter. Recently, the malware businesses started attacking MMOs directly, writing malware explicitly targeted at MMOs to gain access to MMO accounts. While probably not as profitable as trying to get your online banking credentials, it's easier and you usually get away with your loot. Think robbing 7/11s instead of banks.

Being hacked 4 times sounds like you have one of those gems of malware, as has been suggested earlier. Losing all your toons but the lv70 also indicates that, after all you should play your top level toon and not level some new toon, to maximize the profit for the attacker for the next time he comes harvesting you. And the best suggestion (i.e. formating and reinstalling) was already given, which I would also recommend. But allow me to take it a step further to keep you from getting infected again.

First of all, stay away from dubious third party "tools". I'm not talking about plugins (which you should also only get from trusted sources, btw), which are usually safe. You can run Omen or Gatherer just fine, no worries there. But be wary of "special editions" or other wannabe goodies you find in P2P. Not trying to trash P2P, but it simply is nothing I could put into the "trusted source" bin. When there's version 2.3 on the official server and you find something like a "new and improved" 2.4 on P2P, 99 out of 100 times you're dealing with something bogus.

The plugin itself would even be safe (at least as long as there's no inherent bug in the LUA engine, of which I wouldn't be aware of right now), but they usually come with some installer to make it easier for you to put it into the correct directory and plug it into your game. It's trivial for malware writers to bundle their malware into the installation process.

I would be especially wary of "botting tools" or similar. A lot of them are bugged as well. And since there's hardly something that could be called "trusted source" for something that is against a game's EULA, you can never know what you get unless you know how to take it apart and take a look at its inner workings. Usually it's not worth the risk.

Besides getting an antivirus tool, I would also recommend getting Spyware search tools like Spybot S&D, which also has a registry surveillance tool that warns you if anything wants to change critical parts of your registry. I would also recommend getting SpywareBlaster, which contains a feature that automatically blacklists and blocks URLs that are known as malware hosts and dropoff sits (i.e. the servers that a keylogger would report to), so that even if you get infected you have a chance that no info can reach your attacker.

Both of those tools are freeware (in their basic version, which is enough), so it doesn't even cost you.

 Actually , not too long ago it was reported most mmo accounts are worth more than what an average person has in there bank account. And like you said , its a much easier target. They really need to give a crash course on not getting hacked.

 They release trials when they need to boost dwindling subscriber numbers. Now I know they didn't have the greatest of releases but they still have decent subs right? I ask , because I dotn't play. The beta was enough to make me cancel and I haven't really followed it since.

Um well in the Bible it says its a sin. Where do you think do you think the word Sodomy came from? Sodom maybe? and that city was destroyed. At least thats what I believe the word originated from.  Do I hate Gay people? no, but I dont' agree with their lifestyle. God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

I dont' think Homoxeuality is wrong because The Bible says so either,  sex is for reproduction and 2 gay people having sex cant reproduce they are doing it for pure pleasure.

 

So sex is only for reproduction n it is a sin for doing it for pleasure...? So my wife n I havin sex is a sin cause we can no longer have children? And as for being so much about gays...what other religious group has had so many of their priests charged for gay activities with their alterboys?

  Yeah ...its funny , they like to preach about it but most of them commit sins each and every day. If you take birth control , use condoms , covet thy neighbors wife etc etc , its a sin.  I also think the bible is nothing more than an exagerated explanation of real life events. Some real some lies. But in the end none of it could be proven false back then. And we all know people like to talk about how BIG the fish was that got away when no one is around to prove otherwise. I lived in the belly of a whale guys! ...... yeah sure. Is there a greater being out there? I don't know , perhaps. I was brought up that there was a god , so I don't say otherwise. But as far as the bible goes ...I think much of it is a crock. I tbelieve most of it was just to control teh society they lived in at the time , old testiment wise anyway.

  I played LOTRO in beta and then tried it out about a year ago as well. I thought it that the game was very polished in beta. Upon trying it last year .... I still think its a great game. The graphics were AWESOME. The only thing that kept me from continuing to play was that it was pretty much just more of the same with some subtle differences. If there were no other games on the market, this would be one of my top 2 choices of games to play , EQ2 being the other.

If you visited he site, you would already know it is going to be.

 People have been saying a year  ........ every year. Dozens? So what will that leave them with  ......... 10.5 million? Its gonna take a lot more than a few games and a year to start the decline of Wow at any significant state.

Lotro doesn't but they CAN'T suck every dollar  from their customers.  If they could they would though.
 

Hey WOW has 11 million subs that enjoy the game they play. I hear the next Xpac will be just as fun.

 LOTRO is a nice game ...not sure why you have to bag on another game though ............ Just lumps you in wth the same wow trash kiddies that spam and hate on everyone elses game.

 There isn't just one reason that sums up why Wow does so much better population wise than other games. Seriously, you don't become a giant with subs of over 11 million when your competitors are kicking it with 500k and 750k if they are lucky based on one sole reason. Lineage 2 probably did the best with around 3 million at peak , but that was pre wow release.

 If there was only 1 reason Wow become this great .....everyone else could have followed suit. Now it seems , alot of companies want to copy wow or they don't want to break the mold enough. Why does someone want to leave wow if they are just going to play the same game with a different skin? Id rather play games like pre CU SWG or UO , i play Wow cause imo its the most fun right now. Ive beta tested LOTRO and War , played pretty much every mmo out there ....then Im right back in Wow.

I appreciate Blizzard trying to do something a little different and fun. But come on ....... people were doing nothing but plain griefing with this zombie crap. Players would chain kill auctioneers and flight paths. Yeah thats alot of fun ........... . It definately wasn't fun for the people who don't spend much time playing each day ...and for those few days they ended up doing corpse  runs. It was a GREAT idea that was POORLY done. Certain NPC's should have been off limits for one thing.

 If some people enjoyed it ...great. I find that most of the people who liked it were the same people who were also griefing. I cant count how many times I died porting into a city on my mage but  it was nothing more than annoying. I made as littletrips to town those 3 days as humanly possible. Unless I was on my paladin in which It didnt really matter since I could cleanse myself.

 All that being said, I hope Blizzard does more things like that. But FFS institute it CORRECTLY!

 I would be against item malls that sell things to make leveling easier. However , I would not care If it were the selling of items that just made your character a little more unique or even just a fun item. They could sell tcg loot card codes for instance.

 If you are going to make it a Wow clone. You better at least make it work correctly. I have no doubts Bioware will make it a great game ... but it better be released in good condition not broken.
