Let's compare MMORPG's and what they offer.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/14/13 4:32:34 PM
MMORPG: Darkfall : Unholy war Endgame Features: Heavy focus on pvp content in an open world, but pretty meaningless until we see future update with real players cities influences and global politic Side Features: Full loot upon death, some class but pretty much skill based, lots of possibility, everything is player made (craft) New content pace: Unholy war is already a more polished version of the first Darkfall, update are slow and not everything is included (dungeon), game still lag and crash horribly period but they are working on it tm Model type: B2P + monthly fee Security: No trouble i heard of since, but i wouldn't get my hope too high |

A bit of GW2 from time to time for the storyline, some daily SC2 matchup as usual, and a whole lot of Don't Starve my game of the moment.

The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/10/13 7:45:08 PM
If there would be only one : Asheron's call 2 definitly. I even tough the game was fun for a while but it got shutdown so fast, it still make me a bit sad period ;)
Warhammer online : I am a fan of the Warhammer IP and was depressed at the result, it has some good idea and could have been a great game
Ultima online 2 because it was dead in the shell :( |

"Free to play" really just means "we're not going to tell you how much we intend to make you pay or how you'll be crippled if you don't."

F2P alway been and will alway be an immersion breaker for me. Its no different if its F2P or P2W, at the very moment i am in a virtual world trying to get immersed, the shop element immediately bring me back to reality thus breaking immersion. I would like it more if everything virtual shop related was doable only outside of the game, because seeing rl cash vendor in city or advertissement when you are already playing and trying to immersed is a breaker. I hope P2P stay |

This game is great but why am I not having fun ?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 1/15/13 9:08:13 AM
I actually got the same exact feeling as you do.
the game look gorgeous, the atmosphere is well made, even animation is fluid and fast paced. On paper the game do look very nice, of course the heart race can get a bit boring, but no game is ever perfect and overall this game should be one of the best ever made for my taste. But ... For some odd reason i got bored of it extremly fast, not to a point of things getting tedious but it was like looking at a beautifull something and be like : "meeeeh" and i am not alone on this, a lot of friend stoped and can't really put a finger on why, it kinda feel for me as if u are disconnected when playing and something is missing, maybe a little bit of soul. Overall its not feeling much epic. I pretty much feel like i am in a big theme park with npc suddently poping on me and offering quests, a big feeling of something do look very fake in this game and there is nothing to hide it |

10 reasons :
1) Arts stolen from The walking dead 2) Game in dev since 6 months but they are pretending being the first 3) Have nothing to do with MMO 4) Buy to play with a cash shop (should be one or the other) + cash shop to me can't work for a game based on survival 5) No update since 3 months, basically the game is the same since beta 6) there isn't even a quarter of the promised feature, and the features already in aren't up to what they are pretending 7) Baned fair regular player and even pillar of the community 8) Dev treathing their community like shit 9) i don't even think the dev are real dev since they haven't done anything but only promise, the game for now is just a quick made mod of another game. 10) lie everywhere, everytime, run away from them, the dev team doesn't even have an official website ... |

Most cherished item from any MMO you've played.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/26/12 1:44:46 AM
My guise of the deceiver on Everquest. I had the old version usuable by any class. At this time i was a ranger and changing to a Dark elves was so cool and unique, i loved it =) Hell i can even remember having full tolan set, or items like yekesha. I actually only remember items from Everquest even after years of wow, that must mean something haha |

Am I the only one that misses leveling over years?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/18/12 11:54:59 AM
First you say taking a week and i do think its pushing a bit far for the heck of it. Lets take a regular player, semi hardcore but taking his time, having a full time job and familly, i take approximatively 2 to 4 months to max level in today's game. And overall i think its ok, a long adventure is cool but too long is too long. I was there since Ultima online and the leveling hell started with Everquest, sure it was long but was there so many content ? Doing the same dungeon again and again and again to max level (sol b, lguk come to mind) or grinding a 50m² of a zone for a repop, having barelly no quest at all ? was it really involving ? Did u really had the feeling of playing your character or grinding the hell out of it. Human mind is good to trick you, and for sure like you i had the feeling that before was better, but was it the game ? No it sure was me, my inexperience and the novelty of a genre gave me fond memory and it should stay realisticly to that, a good memory. Nowday games like Guild wars 2 take less time to max level, but i have the feeling i am doing more, and doing a more vibrant and moving story than what i was used to do before. There is even tons of replayability and i can restart for scratch with an almost complete new content. I remember as well being unhappy with ranger back in eq day and not able to reroll because it was taking too much time, and that is the worst memory i had with the game, being stuck to one character because i had too much playtime behind me, i don't want that anymore |

Regarding the level issue to continue the personnal quest, you could do just like i do, i ignore personnal story for 10 level then immerse into the personnal story and chain 4 to 5 , that way i feel more immersed :) since you delevel its ok and still challenging, that the good part in gw2 you can play it as you wish

GW2 The most unsocial MMO I have ever played
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/13/12 6:28:32 AM
Depend on game experience i think, it have been much different for me, i often talk with people and meet some nice one, The game itself doesn't punish you for sharing the game experience and more than often i decided to carry on with some people and do more quest. If your problem is grouping in the litteral term of it, its a no issue since grouping option doesn't give much except a private chat and some dots. As well in wvw my server is pretty much active and i got to know meet and befriend some guys and guild, so i don't see the issue, but as i said everyone experience can be different and i am very sociable. |

A themepark game that requires a sandbox mentality... is this GW2's real problem?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/09/12 9:05:32 AM
I think the easiest way to take it is playing it as a game, Sandbox, thempark is a narrow concept just like when some years ago we started puting music in subclass genre, it give headache and take too much out of creativity. It would even be subtle what people consider Sandbox, its supposed to involve a 100 % players made content, but it is impossible to do, so maybe sandbox is just giving you the impresion of player made content ,or maybe again for some it only mean lack of content desguised into something else. Personnaly i couldn't care less, i take it as a game, and i enjoy it as such, for me Anet done something out of boundary and the game seems to have gotten a lot of love from their creator Like it or hate it, but at least do it for what it is ;) |
|
|
Every popular things get bashed be it legitimate or not isn't the question but a lot of people do it for the sake of it since bashing on a popular thing is considered cool by the masse, love and hate is also a very close feeling ;)
