you can craft, harvest resources, farm (ie harvesters), build cities, build houses, create nations, create communities, kill epic monsters, kill epic players.

You should check out Darkfall Online.

Build cities, Craft, farm as in grow herbs and stuff, gather resources, yes you would have pvp, explore a handcrafted world, own a house, build it brick by brick.

You also might be interested in Roma Victor.

IMAGE Clan

Primary Language: English
Faction: Destruction
Website: http://www.imageclan.us
Recruiting Status: Currently Open.

This is a PvP focused guild. Do not bother applying if you do not want to PvP every day. It's not that we don't do other things, but unless you want to be in a clan that will be waging war constantly, look elsewhere.

History

Formed in 2002 as an America’s Army clan, IMAGE has several remaining original members backed by a core that has been together three plus years. Our first venture into MMO’s was the PvP-centred game Shadowbane, a game in which we honed our ability to use tactics and voice chat coordination to defeat our enemies. Though we have played in many other MMO’s, none have allowed us to focus on PvP and conquest like Shadowbane did and like we hope Darkfall will. We have been waiting for Darkfall 3+ years now, and with the epic failure of Age of Conan our time lately has been spent waiting and occasionally playing the Half-Life 2 mod Age of Chivalry against many others in the Darkfall community. We are moving to WAR while we continue to wait for Darkfall.

Clan Structure
IMAGE clan has a small centralized leadership with an advisory council. After showing a long-term commitment to the clan, you may be able to join the advisory council. We are actively recruiting all types of players from crafters to PvPers, though everyone will be expected to fight during a war.

Our guild currently has 50+ members actively waiting for Darkfall, and due to renewed interest in the game, recent recruitment efforts, and an influx of new recruits we expect to have 100+ members by the time of the game’s release.

We expect to have 50+ members playing WAR by the end of the weekend.

Recruitment

There are three basic qualifications for membership in IMAGE:
1. In order to be accepted into IMAGE clan, you must be 16 years or older (though exceptions might be granted if you're exceptional).
2. You must have Ventrilo or be willing to download and use it.
3. You must not be in any other guild.

Keep in mind that you will have a two week to one month recruiting period and that your long-term membership will be up to a vote by the advisory council. Typically all that we’re looking for is commitment to the guild and the ability to both play  well and not be a douchebag.

When you apply to IMAGE, go to the recruiting section of our forums and follow the simple guidelines on how to apply.

I'm not interested on your detailed analysis of which is less sandboxie, but which in theory or if you've tested any of them what was so great about the gameplay, as a casual or grind player which is funner to play? I guess only the faq's can give that answer in theory but I'm not sold on any hype, I'll try both games, glad they both at least have dwarves.

Darkfall is very hardcore with complex gameplay, free for all full loot.

And it looks much much better then warhammer watch new movie!!!!!

Its 100% sandbox

Warhammer=themepark with casual pvp for the mass, cartoony's and mediocre grafics.

This, plus Darkfall is skill based both with regards to no classes and also that combat is first person shooter like.

Also it has true sieging, not over NPC type cities, but your own cities that you have worked hard to build. Player Housing. Crop growing. Intricate player crafting. Total control over your characters path.

Thank you for posting this.

There isn't another game with these kinds of features on the Market. Darkfall is although a niche game going to be highly enjoyable for many people.

However the graphics in that video were like a downgraded version of shadowbane, I'd think they can do a bit better than that.

I'm still not buying that the game isn't going to be the next AOC but the trailer was interesting enough to put the game on the radar for me at least.

Having played SB for over 3 years you must be blind or be watching a youtube low rez version of this.

Try again.

Additionally, the gameplay is first person shooter controls with full pvp and full loot and farming and crafting and house building, and city building, and resource farming, and on and on.

There isn't another game on the market with this. Not one.

You have no idea if they are using skills or not in melee.

Were you expecting big flashing lights like WOW and AOC? Read about a game before posting drivel like this.

The videos on youtube dont do it justice.  I was blown AWAY!! woot!

I saw the downloaded video, all 600+Mb...

If you infact got "blown away" with that... i pity you.

What is the problem with the graphics exactly? I thought they were good... not the best around, but good. Anyway, I will never understand those who think graphics > gameplay. To me it just makes no sense... we are talking about a game and not a damn movie!  Bah... to each its own I guess.

Why dont you read the entire thread? I clearly sid i dont care about the graphics. They are worse then average, but if the gameplay was good, i would not care.

Yet, aparently, the gameplay is crap. And i dont understand why every fanboi sais the game rocks, when infact it looks like crap. The movements are terrible, the PvP looks subpar, at best (yay, i'm auto whacking an enemy to death), the "mage" class, or whatever it was, seemed idiot, at best. (oh, let me 1 shot everyone in the map, it will look good in the video)...

Please... Assuming the gameplay is even half of what they said it would be, the video SUCKS, and anyone that sais diferent is or a blindfolded fanboi, or played 1-2 MMOs at max.

There are no classes. There is no auto attack. The pvp looks sub par? Are you high?

There isn't another game on the market with this level of graphics that has first person shooter controls in an mmorpg world. Additionally, full loot, crafting, player made cities, resource points.

You obviously know very little about Darkfall or are too stupid to realize what you just watched.

It was Epic.

Graphics keep getting better and better. If you think it doesn't look good then get your eyes checked. Seriously.

To the poster asking about the shadows, watch the video with the cat. The shadows are actually dynamic so in a video they move beautifully, screenshots less so.

To the above poster, Dark and Light released, it just sucked. If DF follows DnL and actually releases, it has the same chances of everyone else as being good. Realize that if you go down the vaporware road listing DnL is a bad idea as it wasn't vaporware, it just sucked.

So give us all a break and go work through the logic of the stated game mechanics and what they really mean for a player in the DF environment.

UO had the same "consequences" and people just found ways around it and it was just a gankfest

There are 10's of thousands of players that would disagree as to UO being a gankfest.

One, they will not have instances, what you are talking about is zone loading, IE crossing server boundaries from one servers land area to another.

Two, those "loading zones" will be fluid based upon how much "load" each server has taken on during this time depending on player population per geographical area.

You might want to take some time to look up instances as they are generally considered so that you don't look like a complete idiot next time.

Ahhhh my bad, you guys didn't get what I meant.... I didnt mean instances as in ...well.. INSTANCES...

I meant more like Dungeons.

my bad

Also agreed with undiesusa... instances ruin games.

Oh yeah man, Theres gonna be lots of dungeons, rife with epic mobs and epic pkers. SO MUCH FUN!

"Darkfall looks great, but i dont like PvP, can I play anyway? This game is geared towards the PvP market, so you may find Darkfall a bit too harsh for you. That being said, we are aiming at having more useful tradeskills than any released MMORPG to this date, so you may find something of interest to you in Darkfall despite all the PvP action. Most Clans will need a large range of player smiths, farmers, tailors, hunters, fishermen, alchemists, miners, etc., and they will offer relatively safe cities and good accommodations for those willing to spend time crafting items, or providing supplies for the Clan. In theory you could play Darkfall for a year, and never have to take part in any PvP as long as you are careful, and dont venture too far into dangerous territories. Also remember that the Darkfall world is absolutely huge, with hundreds of small islands scattered all over the world. Nothing is preventing you from finding a hard to reach, hard to find little spot of the world, set up a house, and live in peace with a few friends, hunting in the nearby woods, or adventuring into the local dungeons without seeing other players for weeks at a time.

Darkfall can be experienced any way you prefer. We are just making the game - you play it."

This however is very true and is one of the highlights of the game.

hmm, good question.

The devs have stated that DF is NOT a PvP MMO.

Its a sandbox MMO with no plyer restictions. The game is about building up a kingdom from scratch, finding people, taking care of the ecomomy and so on.

And you need be really good at tactics, diplomacy, economy and logistics.

I only remember the dev's saying "it is a harsh game not for the weak" or something like that. It's not a 100% PvP centric game though, it will be having PvE... they also said they would have instances.

Incorrect. They will not have instances period. Instances ruin games.

"Will Darkfall have "zones"? No. Darkfall will not have "zones" and zone loading as seen in other MMORPGs when traveling in the huge Darkfall World. There will be a short loading pause when entering dungeons though."

Do some research before posting.

One, they will not have instances, what you are talking about is zone loading, IE crossing server boundaries from one servers land area to another.

It will interesting to see how the social interaction develops.  EVE thrives because its a blend of PVP and safe(er) zones.  In fact, surveys show a bulk of characters spend their time in the high sec areas, and not in the wilds of 0.0.  I suspect people do like I do, keep a character in both and enjoy the benefits of both worlds.

How DF will manifest itself I'm not sure. I'm told UO  was a brutal place back in the day (or a heck of a lot of fun if you enjoyed ganking folks) but we'll have to see what develops this time around.

The world of Darkfall will be relatively safe in certain zones. Player cities will be very safe, if you are in that guild or an allied nation, just as they were safe in SB.

The big NPC starter towns will be safe as well, protected by guards just like EVE is protected by the cannons.

It's out in the big large world of Darkfall where you will want to have your friends with you, just like EVE and SB.

You only get RPK'd cause you are a nublet running around by yourself in the wilds, near the player cities of PK guilds.

Most of the time the chances of just being RPK'ed is impossible in a real PVP game, because you don't ever really travel alone.
