Eve has been around for quite a while, and has about 200k subs. At least that's what I hear. I think it's less than that, but lord knows I'm a pessimist. I was just kidding about the fantasy land bit, I shouldn't have started out with a jibe like that and I'm sorry. :) |

I as well haven't enjoyed a game as much as I used to enjoy AC. Seems that every game that comes out is basing it's combat and leveling systems off of EQ when I always felt AC was much better. Haven't read anything about Mortal Online yet, but if it is more like AC than the other games out there I will have to check it out. |

A few hundred thousand would be a major success for this game. Far beyond what it has the potential for. One hundred thousand is a better estimate, and that is if it succeeds in all of the features it promises. If it doesn't? 25k max. My personal estimate is between 50 and 60k. That's not so bad for a niche game. PvP centric games tend to kill off their own populations, literally and figuratively. |

10 year olds shouldn't be allowed to be on the internet at all by themselves. Personally I would suggest that you take up an interest in playing console games with him. That way he has the fun of social interaction while playing a game in a controlled invironment. It would also be a bonding expirience for you and him. Otherwise you are going to have to sit looking over his shoulder for hours while he plays and he is just going to resent that. |

I like lobster. If McDonalds made a lobster sandwich I'd probably eat the hell out of 'em. Unless they killed you, which they probably would. |

In my opinion there are no MMOs worth playing out at this time. A lot of people seem to like WoW so you could give that a try, you certainly wouldn't have problems with it being empty. LoTR seems to get a lot of good reveiws by people too. I wouldn't bother with WAR as it seems to be going through a transitory period. It may shape up eventually, but right now it's not worth it IMO. I went back to AoC for a while, but it felt pretty empty and I grew bored with it in a short time. Eve is pretty boring unless you like doing a lot of the same things all the time. The scenery never really changes, and the combat is rather tactical and dull. So right now I am playing Left 4 Dead. It's fun, but it's an FPS not an MMO. I'm waiting for STO, SW:TOR, DC Universe, and Champions. Hopefully one of them will be good. |

I have, and will continue to wave a yellow flag as far as this game goes. Is it a joke? Not yet, but it definately has the possiblity of becoming one. Which is unfortunately a greater possibility than the game has of delivering on all of it's promises, and or being a success. I won't pass judgement, and I won't scream 'Vaporware!', (though I might refer to it as Darkfail on occasion just to rile somebody) but I will say that people shouldn't allow their expectations for this game to get too high. Being open PvP it is going to have one of the most offensive communities in gaming. Not everyone can win every fight, and some people can't handle losing well, and still more people don't know how to win with any manner of civility. Thus the game, even if it is as good as it's supposed to be, will tear itself apart from the inside. |

Hits too close to home for me, as I've actually worked in an office much like that. It seems funny to watch it on tv, but if you are actually living it it's not so great. Playing it as a game just sounds boring. |

I didn't like any of the Warcraft games either, but they kept making them. Then I hated WoW, but it turned out to be a big success. So it just goes to prove that everyone has their own personal tastes. The Star Wars ip may seem run into the dirt to you, but somebody must like it because they keep making movies, games and cartoons, not to mention all the books and comics. I liked the first 3 movies, but by the time the last three came out I was too biased by the first ones to appreciate them, but that doesn't mean they weren't good. It just means that by comparing them to the first three I was setting myself up for disappointment. Sandbox games can be fun, but they require a lot from the community, and since WoW broke out the MMO community has changed drastically. We are no longer primarily PnP gamers who are looking for a visual representation of PnP games. Now there are a great many younger players out there who are just looking for a fun, casual kind of game where they can group with their friends if they want, and play solo if they choose. That doesn't make the games better or worse, just different. If people keep trying to compare the games they used to enjoy with every new game to come out, they are just setting themselves up for disappointment. In the end it isn't the ip that makes the game. It's the game itself. Bioware has made some good single player RPGs in the past and I hope that they can make a good MMO. Only time will tell. But if you start judging a game before it comes out, just because of the ip, you may end up robbing yourself of a great expirience. |

Personally I think that AoC's combat system is pretty revolutionary, and works great for PvE, it's too involved for PvP though. Eve, I haven't had enough expirience with to comment. I've played the trial, but that's it. PotBS I haven't played at all. WAR's PQ system was pretty fun at tier one, but by tier 2 they were ghost towns. Again, if this was a primarily PvE game it would have worked out better. So I guess my vote has to go to AoC. Even though the game is severely lacking in some ways, it had several good points. Apply the graphics and combo system to a game like Asheron's Call and it'd be the best game out there, IMO. |

Depends on the gameplay, and the customization aspects. From what I've seen I'd give the former to DC and the latter to Champions. I'm going to definately give them both a try. In the end it may come down to which one has the better roleplaying community. |

Don't drink and type! LOL...It's ok, I understand., I'm not against you or anyone else. I am just saying that at least they are trying something to save the game. Good or bad it's an attempt to save the game from being shut down. |

Well, I didn't really give him grief over it. Many would have laughed and called him dumb or whatever, I did not. I just pointed out the definition and even used a cute little Princess Bride quote to lend some humor. But that's beside the point. I don't think Smed, or SOE had any real choice in the matter. They had to do something, and this game has such a bad rep from CU and the NGE that no one really wants to pick it up and start playing it. So they suck a little more money out of those that do play by using the old carnival barker routine. Buy four balls and try to win a prize! What else at this point can they do? I don't think that their current subscriber base bring in enough income to cover the cost of maintaining the game, so rather than shutting the game down, which would upset everyone who plays, they are taking a chance that the TCG might make them enough to keep it in opperation. When it fails, as we have pretty much surmised that it will, I am guessing that will be it. SWG will shut down. So if you like the game, support the TCG, because it is the game's last lifeline. |

aspirations But otherwise, hey whatever. The game is in a financial crisis and the devs are doing something to help boost revenue generated by the few who care to play it. They are just trying to save the wretched thing, something for which you should be happy. Better to have what few actually waste the extra money on the stupid cards have something special than to have no one playing at all. Yep, it's shady and it cannibalizes the player base, but it's just business. Either buy the cards and take a chance at getting something you want, or don't buy the cards and just buy the stuff from somebody with IGC. You don't have to buy the cards, I'm sure there is nothing gamebreaking in them, just fluff. Like having extra clothes for your Barbie doll. If you want them, buy them, if not don't... |

Hey Todeswulf, did you have a chance to see the character creator at all? I am just wondering if they are going to have as many options as CoH or Champions. What I've seen hasn't really impressed me as all the differences between created characters has been tight designs. If they have a good character creator this may be the game I play rather than Champs. |
