Honestly it s a game that you ll love or hate. When i first played it i did nt like it at all. That said i m spoiled with my WAR beta:) When WAR is released i ll be playing that for sure, but i more then likely will try out AOC again as my second game. I almost always have 2 subs going at one time. Theres always a few days a month i don t feel like logging into my main game and this is waht i ll use AOC for. We ll see if i like it then but those that do enjoy it now if it s your style i can see why. Time will tell with me but until then i have my game atm and will check back into AOC down the road.

Don't let the reading the forums get you down.

Most of us on the dev team have been playing the game, and its been nice to see the different things people talk about on the OOC channel and hear peoples feedback.

Sure there are issues, sure there are things we wanted to achieve that we were not able to for initial release. But we still have plans for the game.

Currently the forums tend to be a very bad snapshot of the game community as a whole. Especially during a turbulent time like an MMO launch, people are far more likely to go and vocalize negative opinions then they are positive ones.

So if you are sitting here reading the forums and maybe have not gotten your copy installed, patched ready to go or played yet I encourage you to not lose hope and hang in there while you try the game for yourself. My personal play experience the people having fun outnumber the people complaining currently probably a good 10-20 to 1 ratio, and that's on a PvP server where most the complaining is about getting ganked anyway.

Age of Conan is not for everyone, and we never said "Hey we want to be a WoW killer" that was never our goal. We hope you enjoy the game and we will continue to make it better for you the fans.

LOL  at funcom, so they open the official forums to public, but they scared like hell

I never pay attention to what the idiots say on this site. I buy the game and form my own opinion. AOC is an awesome game and the only reason people are being negative is because they have shitty rigs for computers and all they can do is cry and boo hoo because their commodore 64s can't play this game.

I have had no issues with anything in the game so far because I understand that all games upon release are going to have some issues, but I also understand that if I am not a whiner baby and I sit back and relax that these issues will eventually be fixed.

Most of the ones who are negatively commenting on here are from WOW or (World of Whiners), some of them may be here just for purely sabotage reasons, they are mad because their carebear game is coming to the end of its cartoonish, same thing day in and day out, nerfed to hell life and no longer can they run it on a atari 2600 setup.

I agree with the DEV, ignore peoples comments about the game and try it out and form your own opinion. Can the game be that horrible when about 20 out of millions are on here crying about this and that.

This is so stupid. Why is it if anyone has a problem with the game it s your rig sucks. Thats not the case. Alot of people don t have problems but alot do why is that so hard to understand. It s not becuase their rigs suck either. Of course the dec will say ignore it and try out the game youself, dun this will mean more money for them.

Well there can only be so many reasons why they have a problem with the game:

1. Their rig sux

2. They are not true mmo players who understand that all games have flaws at releases and they excercise some patience and understanding that it will be fixed, that doesnt mean now, next week or next month. If you played WOW you would remember that they had a really bad release.

3. They are from WOW and they are hear to just try to sabotage a game that has alot of potential.

And why shouldn't people check it out if they haven't already, just because others say they don't like the game doesn't mean people should agree with it. The best way to find out is to try it out your own self. If you don't like the game then you should send your comments to FUNCOM, theres no reason to post on a forum unless you have an agenda to ruin the game just because you think it sux.

So what you say is the truth i see. Look you re wrong i have a system that can eat this game for lunch, but even though it runs decently it s not perfect.  The reason peopel shouldn t check it out is simple. If FC thinks the game is so good and it will sell itself then release the buddy pass access and then shortly after have a trial. I m saying if people are on the fence they should wait till they can try it free and not sepnd $50. This whole your rig sucks crap is getting lame. All i ever hear from some of the fanbois here is haters/trolls always come on here and spew the same comment over and over. This is true for them as well. Your rig sucks comment  has been said a million times and it simply isn t true. As stated by the dev "Age of Conan is not for everyone.

This is so not true. There are many people saying they don t like it , but are waiting a few months to see what happens. Does this make them a troll, hater, or fanbois of another game. I can say from my personal experience, that i know of at least 30 people who could care less if the game suceeds or not wont be playing it due to this and other reasons. These 30 people are members of a guild i m in , in other games. It s simply this, not everyone is going to like it, and being that you re a close second only behing Avery as AOC s fanbois, of course you ll say this.

I noticed Funcom didn't answer the question about how many people can be in a particular instance. We wanted concrete numbers, not some artificial statement. Okay, so obviously some zones will be able to handle more than others, so why not give us an "as low as..." and an "as high as..." figure for instance loads. I personally don't care if they use instances, but it does matter how many are allowed in an instance. If it is as much as 1,500-3000 per instance, than we aren't experiencing any negatives for them using instances. However, if the figure is around 100-500 per instance, than we are suffering as a community. Companies need to be pushing the envelope with the amount of people per server in one area, without performance problems, not going backwards with the amount of population allowed in one area.

If MMORPGs aren't ready for thousands of people to play in one server without performance issues, then the developers need to use lower graphics.

The fact that they dodged the concrete numbers question and a couple other questions doesn't look well for Funcom in my book.

Oh crap fanbois inc. I agree though. Pixels over gameplay to me anyways isn t a great idea. Going with the higher graphic detail looks good, but means this sorta thing happens. I prefer seeing alot of people and i mean ALOT in an area. I also like a challenge of fighting over mobs especially in a FFA pvp situation, gives more meaning to the pvp if anything else. Must be my time in FFXI fighting over NMs and SB fighting for spawns for runes etc, I actually liked it :)

Theres going to be alot of boxes available of course. They said 700 k were sent out and 500k playing, hence 200k left atm :) It will be interesting to see what they retain and growth or loss thereafter. I m sticking to my after WAR, Aion, TCOS, and WOWLK, are released it will hover around the 200-250k mark.

seriously dude i just dont get it.  do you hate the game or not?

its like one moment your for the game and the next your flaming it...make up your damn mind

its called im neutral. There are aspects of the game I love and there are some aspects I hate.

You see, to fanbois and to haters, these idea is completely foreign to them as they can never truly like and dislike something at the sametime. lol for normal folk its a common occurance

You speak the truth. I myself have said some harsh stuff about AOC because i truly don t like the game. That said the people i have listene to the most through CB etc were the in between people. I learned alot more abot the game when people gave good and bad opinions for things in the game, opposed to FC craps rainbows from the fanbois and the complete opposite from the haters. After i played the game a bit i was ticked off that i was so hyped about this game and it turned out not so good at all.(To anyone ready to attack me on not loving it this is to ME) Bottom line is someone who stays neutral is alot more credible to me and alot i m sure.

If you read between the lines it sounds more like a pr event. Nothing really new and informative, just another way to spread his word, IMO.

Im still trying to figure out why a lot of you are lvl cap or even past 40 ten days into the games launch. So many of you are complaining about the game past lvl 40 and many are quitting. Did you ever stop to think that you are burnt out on the game because youve spent most of your free time during the past ten days getting to the end of a game that should take at least a month. It usually takes me around 6 months to get to lvl cap in MMOs. Anything gets old/boring/irritating when you constantly surround yourself with it. Too much of anything is a bad thing. Slow down and enjoy the game piece by piece, detail by detail.

As much as i agree with you it s not the point. Some people will always level fast. The fault is in the dev team not having things ready 40+ from what i m hearing. It s the nature of the beast that there will be some people that hit cap within a week, some a little slower, and some way slower. Bottom line is, any company that doesn t realize this didn t do their homework.

Impressive but since it s the free month period it won t impress me much till a month or 2 after that free time is up. Even then they have alot of competition to contend with shortly after that.

I see your point. I think your definition of linear and mine are different:) The fact that i can do alot to help the fight wether i m there or not(rvr on the frontlines) makes it not linear, to me :)

5/26/08 3:07 PM
Viewed 3350, Replies 82

Linear as you re describing it yes, linear in the real sense of the word pertaining to a MMO no not at all. There are a ton of options on the way to sacking a city. It all contributes to mive the battle lines back and forth. You don t physically have to be on the front to help. Thus it s not linear the way you re saying.

I m not disagreeing to a point. It s lame sure but the system allows it to happen. It won t stop no matter how many times some GM says stop. They need to internally change the system so it doesn t happen. No one that likes ganking cares if it s harassing, so they ll continue to do it. FFA pvp always has this issue in some facet or another.

Since this according to many fanbois is the ultimate Guild vs Guild game out there, join a guild and get them to help? I m not sure why they haven t made this a priority to be fixed.

Public Quests however will require groups to complete the later stages.

There will also be some PvE dungeons where you'll need groups.

Actually no PQs never require grouping at all. You just need to contribute. It is basically a raid where grouping isn t needed.
