maybe its because its getting old and I generally come to forums for answers and sharing information, not trying to dig through 300 posts of negative BS to find something worth reading and talking about.

Why make this post then you re just asking for it. I think you actually like it and are trying to stir it up more.

My wife and i as well as a bunch from other guilds in other games decided on destruction. In all honesty though we re all making order on another server as well and actually splitting our time up between them as a guild. We really want to see what we like best, more then likely we ll like both and be the slowest leveling guild on both those servers :)

I think WAR will do much better than AOC. It won't be perfect of course, but Mark Jacobs won't allow the kind of idiocy that seems to go on at Funcom on a regular basis.

I agree. If they use DAoC as a model, the game should be great. Hopefully EA doesn't poke into it too much.

As for Vanguard, its not just the free month attracting people. Even before all those accounts got activated there was an influx of AoC refuges leaking in. The reactivating of accounts just busted a huge hole in making them flood the place.

In WAR beta and can without a doubt tell you its better and will be even better then AOC is now and more then likely will be in 6 months.

As much as i hate AOC i won t say it s an epic fail unless you expected the game to have 2 mill subs. I personally think the game failed to deliver alot of things and to me is flat out boring. If AOC get thigns fixed in 6 months it won t really matter IMO, too many things coming out to take away from it. I still do think it did ok but overall it failed but not in a epic scale.

Who knows about server merges, but the fact some servers are on low pops indicate new servers won t be added. Bestt MMO of all time in your eyes i m sure but too many not even close. Just play your game and stop with the false crap you spew daily.  Your game isn t doing as well as thought, sure it sold alot but retention is what counts and AOC isn t getting as many as they would like. Leave it alone and forget about it, let us play WOW , WAR or whatever we play and you play AOC. Does it really matter?

WAR will also be out before WotLK, with sieges, rvr, etc. By the time WotLK is out AoC might have functioning sieges and pvp.

True, AoC may have functioning seiges by then...but I bet they'll be buggy for another year after that.

What is to say WAR or WotLK won't be buggy at release?  We could even take it a step further and ask how do we know that there will be sieges in WAR or WotLK at release?

I could care less about WOW , but one major reason of WAR s release being pushed back was to polish up the keep sieges and city sieges. I can t obviously guarentee anyting but i can tell you they re on track nicely.

WAR was originally intended to be released in Q3 of 2007, I believe. It has been pushed back about three times now. To be honest, their first estimate was so insanely optimistic it could not be taken seriously. To their credit, it was only an estimate, but it would have meant developing a AAA MMORPG in about two years from basically scratch, discounting a supplied IP and licensed engine, which does not necessarily speed up the process. In fact, having to stick to lore can slow things down.

As for points of worry, EA Mythic has been extremely transparent regarding WAR, so I would not worry about incomplete notes and hidden buffs/nerfs too much. I am in beta and, having been in quite a few before, can attest to the fact that the developers and everyone else who is involved directly with the community is very open, responsive, and honest. I do not expect this to change in retail.

As for broken promises, thus far I do not think EA Mythic has stuck their foot in their mouths, discounting their estimated release dates, which were only estimates, and ultimately the delays end up allowing the game to be better. There are not too many promised features that have been dropped after being built up as a selling point for the game. EA Mythic seems to be rather careful about waiting until they know something will be in before announcing it. Funcom said a little bit too much about things like sieges and such that ended up being almost blatant lies.

I cannot really comment too much on the last one, except to say that the WAR  is not nearly as ambitious nor as hungry as AoC in terms of graphics, so already stability in comparison should be better. I expect the game to launch in a very playable state with very few bugs that break/lag/crash the game. Balance will certainly see tweaks, but the game should at least run.

What he said:) I m in beta as well and i have never seen a dev team so openly involves with what we have to say. That said there will be issues i m sure, but i can honestly say this game could have released at last release date and been better then most games out now. I truly am glad they did delay though because it s turning out to be a gem of a game.

1. I hear the community is a bunch of pricks, is this true?

2. I also hear that the community is rather small at this point, is this true?

3. If this game is similar to any others, please tell me which ones.

4. Is there any chance for me to catch up to the other players in a reasonable time? (i don't want to hit max mid-fall and have no guild)

1. Some are like any game, but most aren t IMO.

2. Smaller then before yes, still a good size.

3. Honestly it s main goal is end game RVR which no game i ve played anyways is remotely close. Have to try RVR to know why no game is like it.

4. Leveling is quite quick and if you go Classic servers or better yet wait for Origins server where everyone will be starting new then this won t be a problem.

Still the best game i ve played outside WAR beta to date. Obviously you can t just join WAR beta so ya IMO best game out there atm.

Problem with that is.. those people are paying a subscription to play the part of the game they are willing to pay for.

Keeping the current pos archery system... no theurg for albs.. valks for mids... low levels in the frontier to exploit the anti griefing code (if you played daoc much you know someone will find a way).

Just a string of bad decisions.

The goal should have been to get old customers back that left due to most of this idiot decisions.  Instead they will just move around their current population and get some (not as many as they could have) people back.

If enough people leave the other servers and the "battle ground players" don't have the action they were willing to pay for.. then those just lost those subs.

Just saying from a business stand point.. I think Origins was a great idea.. right up until they released the FAQ.

I guess we'll see.. and my personal opinion is that WAR won't appeal to the "hard core" daoc fan.  Of course I'm just saying this from my person viewpoint and I have been in WAR beta for quite a while.  It certainly doesn't appeal to me in any way...

So with the current crapfest of MMO's.. I would have actually resubbed to Origins long term.. if it had indeed been Origins.. and not all the crap that drove me away pasted in the Old Frontier.. no battle grounds just adds to that same stupid decision chain.  I never lived in BG's but I played them when my group or friends weren't on etc blah blah

Perhaps that's just it.. the server isn't going to be what *I* thought it would be when I saw the name.. so I am just disgruntled.

I m not sure i agree with this at all. I was there when DAOC launched. Some of this stuff you say they added onto OF is a string of bad decisions, to me are good additions. I loved DAOC at first and honestly haven t found anything i like as much (WAR beta is the exception). On that note WAR will appeal to the hardcore DAOC fan more then i think you realize :)

Anyways on topic. No BGs really won t effect me either way. If they re there i ll play them from time to time. If they re not i ll get my crafting up faster:) I understand BG s are important to alot of people but it really does distract from the purpose of the game in general. The main focus is end game RVR.

OP: Like everyone else has said, check out Origins when it launches.  Should be more noob friendly, since everyone will be starting from scratch and the rule set will be much less of a gear grind.  I'm comming back for Origins (bringing a few with me too) and I don't plan on playing WAR.  So, I'd assume there are others who will stick around for a while.

Leucent:  No BGs.  They're talking about getting lower levels out into the frontiers (at level 20) to level and RvR.  Supposedly, there will be some protected zones in the frontiers where lower levels can't be attacked by reds or purps.  We'll see how it turns out.

Im fine with that totally. BG s to me take away from the end game RVR IMO. Toomany people playing those instead of the real game :)

lol I think that even the games my daughter plays on Barbi.com kill WOW. Every since they started to nerf and change the classes, WOW has sucked. When you have a cloth wearing priest standing toe to toe with a DPS or Tank class, then you know WOW sucks. Whoever came up with the ideal that a Druid is a tanking class ought to be tossed out on their head. I understand this is a game and a fantasy world but in every mmo I have ever played, you will never find the kind of balogna that you find in WOW.

WoWs dev team and the powers to be kill WOW all by itself from the classes, auction house prices to the mount prices they killed the game.

I think in about a year after all the dust settles and the haters go away (once they figure out they are on the losing end of the mmo battle) AOC will be a top rated game, with a larger player base than WOW has.

To the OP,  WOW was dead long before AOC. Posting numbers on here does no good, because everyone on here is a CPA when it comes to sales.

This is a joke right? If it isn t i ll take some of what you re smoking. Larger player base then WOW omg thats funny.

I personally know about 30 people returning to DAOC for Origins. They re all awaiting WAR(myself included) but have all stated we ll keep both going on WARs release. This server will bring alot back IMO.

What happens in Tier 1 does have an effect but what happens in tier2 will be a big jump in contributing and so on. Tier 1 will help but have alot less influence on the overall then Tier4.

Thats the key it s only been out 2 months. Take into account no new game has been out in awhile, with the massive PR this game used to hype the shit out of it. Now take the fact theres alot missing and bugged like hell, will IMO result in a BIG loss in subs. Then we know whats around the corner(fall) = even less subs.

Read my post history and see how many months I defended Age of Conan and Funcom. That will show you I am not a hater. Most people, I think, find my posts objective as much as possible and know that I do not have an agenda.

But let me tell you my Age of Conan experience:

-Dragon*Con with a behind the scenes feature (the only reason i went - paid like $50)

-Big fan of REH and the comics and stories; I have almost every story and the comic collections.

-Pre-ordered the Collector's Edition (had it mostly paid for 2 months before launch)

-2 mounts (mammoth and Rhino)

-Fragmat with Age of Conan on it

-New Merc Stealth keyboard and Reaper mouse to play it with

-Played both Gamespot event and limited open beta

-Upgraded computer to be able to play it

-Totem in PC gamer magazine

Why do i say this? Because I was a huge fan of the game and excited about it. I am not complaining though at all. I wanted to show you how much of a fan I was and how I couldn't wait for the game.

What's my point? I canceled my account just before my free 30 days was up. The game is not complete and it needs work. And I am not going to pay anymore money to play a broken shell of a game.

Read my post above, this is what i was saying exactly.
