Obama got elected (quite obviously) because the republican party gave themselves a bad name with the bush adminstration.

You pretty much pissed off the american people, they don't like the way the country was running then, so they decided to vote for a party they feel they can trust.

Majority has spoken, just a matter of whether or not they will be pleased with their decision for the next 4 years.

Theirs nothing wrong with prefering PvE :)

I myself, while I enjoy pvp, and personally believe I rock at it, will always prefer good PvE over PvP.

Why players prefer PvP over PvE? I honestly couldn't tell you, for me it just depends on the the game, as ive found some games to have horrible PvP, but awesome PvE such as CoH, and vice versa.

To answer your question, yes a carebear can find he enjoys PvP, depending on the game. No harm in giving it a shot anyways.

Im fine with grinding as long as they make the encounters with the mobs interesting, unique, and challenging.

CoH, FFXI, EQ2, all did this well imo.

edit: But I agree, make combat more dangerous and challenging, lately with mmo's it just keeps getting easier and easier..

Most everyone is playing Face of Mankind right now

for an understandebly good reason.

edit: On a serious note WoW is still the "top dawg" of mmo's right now.

you could try Lotro? still a decent game from what i hear.

Tabula Rasa has mass effect combat style basically, altered a bit so it'll work in an mmo.

Was going through my games and came across my disk for RYL 2, was a great pvp game if I recall right, and it had a more action based combat system.

Whatever happened to it? I don't see it anywhere on the game list here..

Anyone still playing who can share what the current state of the game is? Thinking about coming back personally

It certainly is not a waste of time to piss off fanbois :)

Ryzom's world is a completely vast wilderness which players often explore for gathering materials to craft.

Its more explorer friendly than most games if you asked me.

I won't lie, I used my buddy key for AoC recently, and the game has improved. Bugs that I can recall are fixed, fps is improving, etc.

But alot of people were left with a bad taste for AoC, they won't likely want to give it another try this early, if at all.

btw I think your thread maybe got moved to the general discussion pub on the site, thought I came across it on those boards.

If your like me, you've probably played through all the major grouped based mmos out right now, including FFXI, CoH/V, DDO, etc.

For a awhile now all the new mmo's being released have been solo based, minimizing the need to group as much as possible in games such as WAR, LotRO, and AoC. And it seems future games soon to be released are catering to the solo players as well.

I think the solo players have enough games to choose from for now, so when are game developers going to come out with something for the rest of us, or those who like to group? I think this is a major reason why many players right now aren't satisfied with the current selection of mmo's, developers have been releasing the same style of solo linear gameplay.

It's been quite awhile since we've seen a new group based mmo, just think its about due time for one imo.

In Ryzom you can play completely as a harvester/crafter and not train up as fighter

However their will still be plenty of mobs, especially in places where you'll find the best harvesting supplies, which often requires a harvester to have a bodyguard or friend with him, so you could say combat is a last resort in that case.

Ryzom's a sandbox so you can play it however you want to really.

Its the same thing everytime with these developers..

"oh yes we want to make something cool, something everyone can enjoy, its going to totally be next gen, your all going to love it!"

And then when the dev's release these supposedly amazing games, you end up getting some incredibly over hyped crap like AoC, WAR, PotBS, and many more.

I realize they gotta advertise their products if they want to make money, but im tired of the constant lies and let-downs lately.

ORvR servers are horrible, at least for my playstyle tastes.
Basically you are always flagged for RvR, and if a destruction player decides to wonder into your side of the zone, he is free to make your life miserable for as long as he wants, or until you log
Also the levels before you are turned into a chicken in each tier is doubled I think, so in Tier 1, and level 22 or so can skip right down the road and proceed to own the living hell out of you.
Because of the above rule, I personally view ORvR servers as a gankfest, I also imagine RvR lakes/keeps are ignored a bit more because they don't have to go there to fight you.
edit: I should add in their is no bolster buff to help lower level players should they enter an RvR lake.

Wrong on just about all accounts.

And why would that be exactly?

Im am not "wrong" because I know for a fact, you are always RvR flagged and can be killed at anytime, level restrictions are in fact just about doubled for each tier, and their is in fact no bolster buff anywhere except in scenarios. Im pretty sure RvR lakes don't get as much action as they would on a core server, because people are free to pvp where ever they'd like, not to mention again, no bolster buff in these areas, and high levels running around in them.

To me, it sounds like a gankfest, it played like a gankfest, therefore I personally have concluded, it is a gankfest. whether or not thats what you believe is up to you.

Some people enjoy that kind of playstyle, and thats fine, I encourage those players to try it out, but for me, its absolutely horrible, boring, and almost annoying since their is no real risk even if you do get ganked.

Very reasonable question.  I was only able to play for the first month.  Just like you I didn't feel any "spark" when I played it.

It takes no risk and it offers no risk.

WAR is the epitomy of taking the "easy" road in MMO development.  It just feels linear and it just feels restricted.  It does everything pretty well and nothing very well.

It runs pretty smoothly though.  All in all, it's just boring and repetitive.  But it's a smooth boring and repetitive...

All that said, it's not the worst MMO I've ever played and it's not the best.  It's right no par with the WoW-formula and it does nothing to innovate the industry.

However, the rabid fanbase here will flame this post and yours calling us "haters" and foolish because we disagree with their views.  They will then move on to the next game and do the same when people give their opinions in those respective titles.

My MMO experience starts with UO, EQ, Pre-CU SWG, WoW, CoH/CoV, and others.  The only games I have played for very long were UO, Pre-CU SWG, WoW (several months), and none since then.  I played Age of Conan for a month when it came out but it was poorly developed.

This about sums up my opinion, in a polite manner :)
