Classes in AOC

Soldiers:  Guardian, Conqueror, Dark Templar (heavily armoured melee)

Rogues:  Barbarian, Ranger, Assassin (melee dps with sneaking)

Mage:  Necromancer, Demonologist, Herald of Xotly (magic using dps)

Priest:  Bear Shaman, Priest of Mistra, Tempest of Set

I've tried all but only taken my guardian to any significant level.  Classes are very different in aoc from what I (background in WOW and LOTRO) am used to eg heals tend to be HoT and apply as a result of an offensive action.  Character targeting isnt exclusive .... if someone else walks past they will get hit too.

I'd stay clear of the soldier class as they seem a little oversubscribed and under powered.  Rogues are fun and stealth is very useful.  The mages are all different.  Necro has lots of pets (at the same tiime).  HoX transforms into a demon for H2H and Deomon seems to stay ranged.  The priests have quite high dps but are squishy if they pull aggro.

I think u need to play each class for a couple of hours and see what you think.

nb the racial differences are entirely cosmetic so simply go for which takes your fancy.

Good Luck

Shadows of the Dragon recruitment is now open for all classes and all levels although applications from Mages will be especially welcome.

SotD are a social community spanning several games set up in 2005. Our aim is to enjoy all content the game can offer us, together, as friends. We wear our guild tag with fierce pride as it represents who we are and we take our reputation seriously. We respect the players around us both in guild and outside and we strive to grow and achieve in any game we are part of whilst ensuring the core social roots of the game are not forgotten.

Unlike the majority of social communities, Shadows of the Dragon like to excel in end game activities. To this end, we will soon start our raiding schedule and the Dragons will step from the Shadows. In any game we have always been one of the most successful raid teams from a non raid only guild. We will raid at least 3 times a week (non compulsory) and Hyboria will know our name.

We offer a relaxed, fun, friendly, informed and helpful place to live in the Age of Conan. We have a tier 1 guild city in Cimmeria. We have players from all levels from less than 10 right up to level 80. We have all the usual things you expect from a guild of our size including Guild Bank, Mentors available for new recruits, Crafting Co-ordinators, Event Co-ordinators and also Raid and PvP Co-ordinators backed up up with a professional website and 200 man commercial grade ventrillo system.

If you are :-
· Aged 18 or over;
· Want to be involved in everything this game has to offer;
· Able to show maturity, respect and a good sense of humour
please visit our website to make an application:-

Snowbourn in Europe.

There was a lot of conflict over:-

1  Character naming.  Many people had to change their name in tit for tat complaining between various guilds.

2  Raiders v Rest.  Raiders wanted more raids the rest didnt.

3  Lore v Gameplay.  eg Many rows about whether we should have a killable Ballrog (even if not actually killed by player action).

4  Hardcore v Casual.  There were several threads along the lines of "I pay as much as you so I want to see all the content even though I only play 3 hours a week".

Players making leaving posts were usually given with "shut the door behing you", "can I have your stuff" and other such responses.

imho LOTRO is great for:-

1  Getting up to level max level (50)

2  Graphics

3  Story

it is poor in :-

1  Character development at level 50

2  Itemisation at level 50

3  The community is unpleasant.

My adivce to anyone would be to give it a go.  Enjoy the levelling but expect to drop the game after a month at max level.
