If you're defending a game, sjean1, I suggest not typing in all caps because no one is going to take you seriously when you do.

There are people who enjoy this game, but I am definately not one. I gave this game a few different chances and each time I wanted to log off after 10 minutes.

I can't say I agree that quests and grinding are the same. For me quests give me something else to focus on besides having to grind 500 mobs until the next level. If quests are done correctly they keep me running around to different places while following a storyline so I can explore safely and get a feel for the games setting. Q-World did this well.

In EQ whenever I was exploring for a new place to grind, when I couldn't find a group, I occasionaly ventured into bad areas. If I couldn't recover my own body I then had to whisper 10+ necros to see if one would be willing to summon my body in a far off place. If I couldn't find a necro then I would had to have died several times in order to get my body and get out of the area. All while losing experience for each death. Not my idea of fun therefore making quests good in my opinion since they give me some direction.

I definately agree with the person(s) who said it's either an addon or unsecured wireless network because if he already reformatted once and it happened again it has to be something common amongst all computers.

So yeah...

- Smack him until he uses Firefox and its No-Script addon

- As for antivirus I suggest BitDefender. I go to some really nasty sites and often. Since I have been using it I haven't had a single problem. It also has network security, tells you when something is connecting to the internet + asks your permission for it, has antiphising, and a lot of other options. That way he can look and click on all the nasty things he wants and he'll be okay unless he turns it off.

There is another program that is really extreme, but I found it to be more of a hassle than anything. It's called Faronics Deep Freeze. You lock your computer in a clean state (meaning no viruses or spyware) and even if someone gets on your computer to plant every known virus it will go back to the way it was after a reboot. To change stuff you have to input a password of your choice, reboot, change whatever you want, and then reboot again to have it locked. Like I said though it's extreme.

What kind of antivirus and browser does he use anyways?

I just tried it and I got it instantly with Gmail.

I don't think there is one game that has everything you're looking for, but I will suggest a few that meet several.

Aion - P2P, will be released before 2009, and this wiki explains more on the pvp part of the game.

Q-World - Open pvp, F2P, based in/around Malaysia/Taiwan, leveling is easier than most Asian type mmos, quests are funny, can solo pretty much everything, some crafting, duels, clan wars, but there aren't any raid bosses or much to do at end game besides pvp.

For full loot pvp there's currently only one out that isn't oldy moldy. Look under this thread for the hardcore pvp type. For territorial type wars look underthis thread.

You first start talking about pvp, but then you touch on dungeon raids also. Are you looking for a game with everything similar to WoW or would you like more pvp? If you want more pvp try to be more specific such as full loot, territory wars, and what not. Say what you want or don't want.

The level cap is currently 220 according to wiki.tentonhammer.com As for the price Anarchy Online it is free for the first 7 days if you download it, but you still need a credit card to make an account. Crowns of Power - Full loot pvp after level 20

Mortal Online - Will be released summer of 2009 and they plan to have full loot pvp I believe

Darkfall- Will supposedly be released before 2009

Those are the only recent games I can find that have or will have full loot pvp.

Not that I am bashing the game in any way shape or form, but their expansion releases should be smooth by now. Including the original EQ there are 19 expansions that have been released. Five are for EQ II not including the adventure packs.

My area has to be clean since I normally have my cat on my desk or lap.

You only mentioned a few, but list all games you have tried and don't like so I don't waste my time suggesting one you have tried.

It wasn't my topic, I wasn't the OP. But I did put a lot of effort into my reply.

One Note - It's occurred to me since that the thread may have been moved while I was actually writing my magnificent opus. So..... But I still think some of the other replies previous to mine were general enough that the thread could have been allowed to stay at The Pub.

Yes, you can help yourself. You can edit your post right now, cut everything in there, make a new topic in The Pub forums titled something like "Vanishing Design Features", and paste everything in there that was in your post. Then to keep the topic ongoing add a line at the bottom saying something like "What design features in games have you guys seen in past MMOs that you don't in todays MMOs." That way you can keep the topic general and keep your post in The Pub. Problem solved.
