The freedom of movement like in WOW is different from AOC. Terrain is more realistic with steep hills etc
which you hardly can climb. At least in the starting area everything is narrow, but perhaps it becomes
different at higher levels. Reminds me of Guildwars.

AOC uses collision detection which prevent people from walking trough other people and objects.
It's realistic but takes a while to get used to. I don't know how many times i stopped moving
just to realize that I'm trying to walk through another player (or NPC).

There are currently issues with moving in hills which kind of make you stuck and you have to
strafe.

One really cool thing in AOC is the ability to climb stuff. Adds a new dimension.

When you attack NPCs, they dont insta warp to you. Some times they sit down
at a bonfire. When you attack, the NPC first has to raise from the ground and
then starts to run towards you. I really like this kind of realism.

In WOW PvP you normally just jump around, hit attack buttons and try to keep close enough
(and face) your opponent. This is different in AOC where combat is more complicated.
In AOC you can block attacks, try to get as many of the oppenents within the arc of
your attack etc. The new combat system is good, and with a couple of years polish
it will be awesome (and most likely standard for new MMORPG games).

Thanks alot for your explaination, mate. I can't wait to try out AoC ;-)

And for jumping around on everything and everywhere, I cant say this is 100% everywhere (so fanboys dont flame me too hard) but there have been many reports about invisible walls and loading screens etc that may interfere with your enjoyment of jumping on things =)  Hope that helps.

That's a good thing since i love to explore to places people can't just get to ;)

But is it doable? It's not like the movement in LOTRO? (since i hated that.)

Hello everybody,

Im considering trying this game once it gets out (i seriously never get in any beta), but i'd like to know from (ex)WoW players how much they like the movement in-game. Why i always loved WoW was because i could jump around everywhere on everything without any problems and move around my camera, how does it work in AoC?

How can you walk with your mouse, or move around with your camera without having your character move etc?

WoW players, do you like the movement in AoC just like WoW?

Thanks,
Miquexia.
