It appears that the most changes are made around the classes and proffesions... Many new skills     new talents... even hunters pets have talent trees to choose diferent abilities...

Profesions also are more intresting now since every gathering prof gives a bonus, herbalism gives u a healing over time spell regardless what class u r, skining increases critical e.t.c. and production profs gives u additional enchants.

AS for the outdoors design? Amazing have to admit well done bliz..

Conserning fights ,mobs and instances being so easy it seems blizard made all classes very powerfull so lvling will go faster i guess.

No.. it will never have 250k subs. EVER.

The game is obscure and unknown. It's not marketed or promoted outside of GREECE. Go take a look at what the general gaming public thinks of it's last video over at gametrailers.com. They all laughed their asses off because it was so amateurish looking.

It has a miserable amount of people following it for a MMORPG that has been around for the last 7 YEARS.  Even Dark and Light had triple the amount.

Lich King has lots of PvP in it. It's a game focused on PvP.  Who the hell is going to be left playing Darkfall after Lich King is out?

And no -- Full Loot on death is NOT going to make people want to play Darkfall. If anything, it will make even more people run away from it.  Also -- skill based is nice yes.. but it isn't anything so new and great that it will attract or pull tons of people away from other games.

Darkfall is nothing special. It's an older looking PvP sandbox game. I can go play an older looking PvP sandbox style game right now called Asheron's Call on Darktide.

You are talking so much giving value in marketing and advertising in a game.  When you are a small developing company its kinda hard to build on this due to financial reasons. The counter attack on this though is that they focused much on gameplay mechanics, networking code that will hopefully be lagg free in reasonably   terms,  they devoted them selfs  more  in trying to make the game better  than advertising ..  What did AOC and WAR managed focusing more in advertising and less in the game they made? Apart making seriously thinking players ,with high standards of  gaming products excpectations,laugh with the meaningless and void products? AOC had seriously lack of promised and they lied about pvp system on launch full of instanced world,and WAR SEEMS more like unreal tournament and less like a solid mmo role playing world......Nothing..They got themselfs embarassed.. nothing more...

So DF has not much things to offer?

How about a huge cruel and realistic world to  A D V E N T U R E on it? ships and naval battles.. building vilages and houses .. A taste of what Ultima online have offered in 3d grafs with Oblivion like combat style system nothing new uh? What better can a player imagine  that fighting with a combat system similar to oblivion.

Skill based combat u said its nothing so new? What world of warcraft has to offer to me after i played it

3+ 1/2 y in a row?  Havent u noticed they made WOW ' s pvp easy even for the worst noobs? All an arcane  mage has to do is spam the instanst spells and deal great dmg despice the fact he's unskilled . Retris?  I used to play piano in my keyboard and do a lot of melee tricks with my hunter in order to get a 10 yards distance  to be able to use my bow ,now u can shoot with bow from 3 yards...They made the game easy to fight for the noobs ,and destroyed  the skilled fights .. That was ofc  before burning crusade .

How about RP? most other games has no rp at all simply because of the meaningless world its based on. In a world u have noting to loose  roleplay seems more like theatrical . in a cruel medieval realistic world where your life -and your gear- can be held in the hands of your companions leaves place for a stronger rp enviroment cause rp is greately enchansed by the situations you can be on ,creating stronger relations with your mates ,brother alike situations fight back to back with your guildmates against the enemies. That cant happen in wow or in the other mmo's cause simply by dying in an instance or in pvp fights u just respawn ,or loosing few fer arena rating , without having to loosing anything.. safe free hug place with happy gnomes and undead mages jumping like retards and throwing instance spells ..not for me matie.. not anymore...

IN DF u earn combats with your sword ,blood and tears and not with the clicking of a single button.. wake up.. Wow's combat system maybe fun for 12-17 y old kid but for 25+ y old players skills are the a-z tome of value.

The only thing i agree with u is that the full loting will throw away after a period some players maybe. I  can imagine that even a hardcore player may get tired after fully looted ,run to bank get gear and go back to his last location. Considering looting i ve posted in past my ideas on this with a partial looting example 1 item drops from your inventory randomly+ some money... But i guess its up to devs to consider this and i beg them to reconsider upon this for  the game's shake.

After 30-35 replies NONE answered the most simple question which this post is all about!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT in the nine hells would happen if the devs would add loot items with SMALL bonuses NOT big

but SMALL bonuses on items armours weapons e.t.c.

WHAT! the combat system which i find good and refreshing will still be the same...

The fate of the combat will still be depend on the player skills and tactics and not in THE LOOT ,cause

the bonus stats would be SMALL!!!!!!!!!!

Its a very simple question and the answers i get in this post is like:

This game has no loot ! get over it!

This game isnt for you!

Loot whining!

Im starting to wonder is it just the COS community IQ level so LOW or it s a disease spreading tommo rpg players?

Having small bonuses on armours and weapons wont change the fate of a battle SINCE ITS JUST A SMALL ADDITION ON STATS...

Honestly ppl sometimes i think u cant read well the posts ppl make...

All i said is i agree loot  stats shouldnt play a serious factor cause skill is above all but dont have stats on armours at all???

Its a frieking medieval fantasy game OFC i excpect some magic items with stats

a full population pvp server with queqe ,in wow has around 16 thousand people .. thats around 8 thousands hordes and 8 thousands alliance players..

From those some are alts ,many are offline in various times of day or night...

In wow i dont deal with 10 million ppl... those 9.984.000 ppl i dont deal with them raid ,pvp or seeing them since they are in other servers,,,

so for every wow player a number of 8-16 thousands players is what they can have delaings with every time he logins...

So..

WHo gives a shit if DF will have 500 thousands subscriptions or 1 milion or 5 milions?

All i care is aventurine grant me the oportunity to fight in such a harsh and dangerous enviroment with and against 10 -20 thousand ppl with minimum lagg .. if they caN DO that im cool..

And so will be the friek out of slaghtering brothers to me that will be there..

Cause we will be!

I agree in the most aspects of this game which it apearrs  it offers.. some of them are brand new and fresh which is frankly  exactly what mmo rpg market needs today after all the wow clones ( wow copied some other games also) we ve been delivered by various other games .

Although...

I honestly do not understand why they desided that loot will be only for decoration reasons... honestly .. i cant think of any reason..

I favor the idea that loot shouldnt play the role that it plays in games like wow,L2 and majority of other mmo's ,

but at least it must adds some minor stats.. Something like dungeons and dragons pen and paper philosophy where talents and feats play the 80% of your character quality and 20% the gear..

But in cos it seems gear= 0% and the drops agony on bosses and random mobs ,that fewling.. i dont know mates i  couldnt play a role playign game mmo or single player if no loot at all..

And im afraid if devs of COS wont add stats at least in minor onto items dropped loads of players wont even try a beta..

A correction here:  Gear is ofc needed inside arenas , but as you well said eventually most ppl will get decent pvp gear throught battlegrounds, and when u do everying is up to the skill of players,how fast they react ,how good they cooperate with their mates and ofc how much good is their class setup..

Frankly after the last patch all wow classes have been boosted in dmg , loads of new sklls and talents and arena is going again the centric goal for pvp..

I  ve watched a latest video from cronicles of spellborn demonstrating pvp .. despice the decks of skills and nice movement around i couldnt help nod my head watching another mmorpg being build with too much un needed visual effects when skills are used even from melee classes...

Like someone said to all devs in most dev companie sthat ppl want to see effects that cover the whole opponent sprite!  All u need is smooth animation on weapons so u can actually see asword heading towards to your opponent like oblivion .. perhaps some bllods throwing  on hits, but thats it.. no need for fancy effects ... those ccan only impress 12 y old kids.. wow look at all this blush on the screen thaTS HEROIC STRIKE ! YEHA...!           sigh*

Effects can help visual expirience when they are not covering the whole screen , be there but not being the theme in your screen ...

Instea dof loosing time the devs on creating fancy dances fo colours upon skills and spells perhaps they should focus on improving gameplaY on their products and improving essential things like animations e..t.c.

P.S. COS has gone down in my evaluation only cause of the effects symphony  on that video..

hmm guys you are wrong... reflection on the DF orc isnt bad..armours are shining in DF looking real especially plate armours like the one orc is using in the photo..

And the whole scene its behind the orc reminds me good memories of hellish graphicks of god old games like morrowind and oblivion.. much better in detail also than wow's and war' s orcs ..by far

The fact that the poster might acted a bit foolishly is one thing .

The quality diferrence between the photos is another thing.

farmers and bots wont visit darkfall

for 2 simple reasons...

1. a player may attack them anytime and loot them

2. mobs and fights are not wow like require skill bots will even perish in pve and pas sby players will lott them again =]

Why should bliz work harder to improve issues like lagg or others? they knwo they have the best mmorpg and they are not hasty to improve things.

That wouldnt be so ofc  if AOC ,WAR ,and many many others instead of boring craps ,unfinished products, would be intresting and antagonistic games equal to wow or better..

Competition always is on the players side when it is on ahigh lvl ,caus esimply then all companies would bust their butts to improve as faster and betetr their products and not take their time slowly like bliz does due to the lack of serious competition.

i have a question about the combat system.

Me and a friend of mine which we both are funs of turn-based combat quetioned ourselfs the same thing after we watched a video  showing the game's combat system.

Isnt any movement factor during the battles? I mean isnt it quite ridicullus to just run towardsan enemy position hit him and then the unit returns back?

Example: Wouldnt be perfect the units have to move from the location and stay in the location they need to go in order to reach the opponent's unit? that way there could be lot of truly tactical element like forifying a ranged attack unit with some melee units in front of it? like it happens in heros of might and magic ,age of wonders, temple of elemental evil , and many other good turn-based combat systems?

That way also u could get advantage of the place ,a hill , or some trees which the enemy should make a whole way around in order to engage youre ranged attack units e.t.c.

Yes many people want the old type of mmorpg bought back .People have to understand that what Aventurine are doing is not new,it`s been done before in games like UO and SB years ago. Ask a DF dev and they will tell you that they get their insperation from these type of game.

Many of us old mmorpg players want this back but are the current crop of players really ready for DF and what it entails..Full Open Loot meaning that even if you kill the said player/mob someone else can loot that mob? Are they ready for Mob npc to loot them if they lose the fight? Are they really ready for No Safe Zone at all? Are they ready for a full skill based game ? Are they ready for their houses to be attacked and looted?the list goes on.

 Whatbhas it got to do with WOW? DF are not Mythic and are not in bothred by WOW.At the moment they are only having 2 servers and are expecting only 100kplayer base at the start,why does it come down to WOW? 

There are many SB/UO/AC players that are ready to jump on DF ,You are missinformed if you think DF needs WOW subs to survive.

I am but then i am an old UO player and know how these games work.

 

good question... normally the new crop of players raised with games like counter strike ,cod e.t.c. would welcome a manual aiming mmorpg ...

the other side of new crop player base though also got raised with games like moo (sigh*) ,L2 ,WOW e.t.c.

a bit pice of this pie are used to do their quest safely riskfree,and pvp when they feel to only in instance like bg's and arenas.. those ppl will really hate im afreaid the player fully loot system upon death and the no safe zones thingie... even those though if DF delivers many other aspecs of what it promishes i think they ll give it a shot cause all ppl are eager for something new and refreshing..

The 3rd pice of of market pie is the RP , rp-pvp kind of players ..in DF it seems a cruel and realistic world that enchants with serious events in rl like cruel medieval world simulated in df , will be a base that will give rp-iers some fewlings they wouldn't haVE IN FALSE RP RISK-FREE ENVIROMENTS (wow)..

My conclusions are that DF is a very good chance for everyone that likes to play in a relaistic and medieval simulated scene ,with a chance tocreate your own unique avatar,be whatever u really want  example: u want to make a priest with sheild and plate armour in a d&d style? its possible..  you want to make a hunter wow style that can be equal to melee fights also with traditional melee classes? its possible...

free build class system opens new horizons for players that got tired of  full balance and restricted classes like L2 ,WOW  e.t.c.  Balance is important but its relative also.. best speccs in DF will depend on how smart the player is cause with all these hundrends of skills u can choose for your avatar the combination of builds are indeed thousands...

Here is the situation about wow right now:

Population:  After the pre-expansion pack patch last 6 days half the servers have queqe to join ... it made me great impression as i didnt wait so many ppl invade stormscale server had 903 queqe many others while i rarely saw queqe they had 300-500 queqe afternoon- evening hours ...

charactedrs/talents/skills:   patch -expansion content: They added many many new skills to every class some classes took a boost (paladins and warriors)  and therefore with all the things/skills/talents they added each class has many new things to do  now  especially in pvp ( bg's and arenas ).

They nerfed cc for all classes and gave all classes skills/talents to cut down the cc resist /durations

every fight now is a lot diferent ( it was about time) you have many more things to do in battles than frost nova blink , intercept harmstring mortal strike e.t.c.

If for each class it was pretty clear what specc/ character build u ll make when pvp now with all the new talents/skills/ changes u can do alot of combinations making the game  alot more intresting.

Proffesions: each profesion now at least for the gathering ones giives your character now a bonus in direct impact with your character example:  herbalism gives you a helaing over time spell whatever class u have. Mining gives u an amount of extra life,  skining increases your critical strike rating e.t.c.

Scribing/glyphs: If there was somethign that was anoying me in wow was that all classes from person to person they were same... what i mean? if pvp same pvp gear almost all same talent builds with very few exceptions and all were just like copy pastes of each other...

With all new skills / talents and this new profesion scribing and the glyphs u can make your avatar alot diferent form the other wariors for example if u have a warior...

Scribing allows u yo customize various skills u use longer casting time but more dmg or the opppositee if u are acaster class , more lethal mnortal strikes cvharging from further distance if u are a warior e.t.c.

Glyphs are extra unique enchants also u add to your character  making your character completely diferent  than the others same classed players. And that is half the game for me.

As i mentioned before in a past post  all changes last one year in game mechanics/talents are made based on pvp balanced and expanding pvp isuues.

With all these new things population increasing instead of diminishing after aoc, war came ( i wonder why^^) + a whole new continent i dont think there is a reason not to stay in wow until something powerfull and new in ideas and aspect game releases( darkfall) ..

P.S. not a wow fun boy .. played 3.5 years wow enjoyed much more at start , ive critised wow in many bliz\ choises ,but  realised there nothing better or even closed to comparison with wow sadly at leats till now...

This is where we differ. In PvE based MMOs, I do not try to outperform my opponents, rather, I try to team up with friends.

With your logic I'd put it this way:

PvP games = football

PvE games = mountain climbing

I have plenty of fun in PvE games, especially if there is a story that progresses well and encounters that are challenging, yet doable.

 

 

much fun in climbing a mountain mate but no fun on defeating low iq mobs

pve=low lvl of challenge   pvp= highest lvl of challenge

simple as that

Its oxymorus and a metaphore... Means suffer in a nice way... adventure abit actually try to acoomplish some goals which at the end it could be rewarding more than just waitiing some queqes to join a FIGHT

Answer is quite simple my friend and...quite sad also...

The lack of freedom and choises u mention exists in nowdays mmo's cause all developer companies are trying to make money following the easy way.. that way is the copy/paste of wow which prooved to be a gold vein for blizzard bringing them bilions in their pocket.

And when u copy a game that lacks freedom the paste wil be exactly the same..

The answer to your prayers could be 3 things : Oblivion online a suposely remake of ultima online 3d

or Darkfall and /or maybe...maybe chronicles of spellborn (have some doubts on this game)

And since the 2 first belong in the fantasy sphere prey aventurni with DF wont fail, otherwise ill be on wot lich king taking 80 lvl my hunter and warrior fighting in pve raids and arena ofc which still is the most exciting pvp system so far .
