But i don't believe anything about DF unless i see solid proof. Long time since 2005 when i first read about it. It was when i was supposed to test is as a clan member.

Proof would be : The beta e-mail, screens of the actuall DFinstaller.exe, login screen, etc etc.

Here it is Nov 14 and there's still no real Beta going that anyone knows of.

I don't want people to get in trouble, but a few words about their experience on the game would 100000% sky rocket the already unreal hype for this game.

If you ask me, there is no beta.

I even dare to think they just started alpha testing(in terms of people allowed in) and allowed the forum mods,friends and family to play.

I'm Greek and i really want this game to come out as it will bring some attention to my country and "new" jobs will be offered/created.

I'd like a trial key too if someone has a spare one.

4 days to go. Also during an exchange of private messages with Tasos, for something forum related, i wickedly told him "i know your scedule is full and your time limited because the Digital Week is in a few days".

Thing is he in fact confirmed they are working hard for the convention and time is pushing.

Now i dont want to start spreading retarded rumors, but if it was just "another" common, not-so important event; why would they be so silent about it?

Why would they be all working hard looking forward to it? Especially when AudioVisual mentions the word "beta" in their announcement.

Once again, dont take my post and start rumors about how the beta is coming and shit.

I'd rather have the true followers of DF lay back and hope for a beta announcement next week.

After all, they claim to be pushing the game for release before 2009.

Worst case scenario for Athens Digital Week = Yet another generic video/screens.

Which is actually good cause we might figure out something new.

I live in Greece but unfortunately i wont be able to make it to the event, unless some real magic gets involved.

"Presented" means they will most probably have a big screen where they will show their game to the audience and who knows maybe let a few actually play it.

I was hoping people to get excited about it and maybe find someone who could actually go and see for himself what the game is about.

After all the event is free, no entry fee required (at least that's what they say on their site).

Its in Greek, but if you click "Gaming" at the right side of the main page , you can see it mentions DarkFall.

So, if anyone lives in Athens (or Greece in general), take a camera and go hunt for DF videos.

edit : I searched some more and i found the exact time and date. Thursday, 16th October '08. Time : 14:00 to 15:30 GMT +2.

I haven't had any memmory leaks ( you know, grey maps and shit) since Erling said in the interview they will concentrate in fixing the leaks.

Of course since the game has huge textures you should just restart the client if you experience fps dropping for no reason.

Also from friends that played the Test live server, they pretty much told me that FC is fixing all the 1 shot kill skills and that the game after PvP patch 3 will be amazing.

Up to you. Can you afford 15 euros? Because that is all you might lose if you dont like the game this time either.

AoC is far from being dead.

There's actually more people coming back day by day.

A lot of them from WAR advicing others in OOC channel NOT to try warhammer.

Anyway, i am waiting for the server merges too. All FC has to do is expand current areas like where guild cities are, or add new ones, so guilds can keep their cities and battlekeeps even after a merge.

I find AoC fun right now with not as many people around as i'd like it to have.

Just imagine how much fun it will be with 4-5 times more people online.

Oh and about the WOW expansion, i doubt it will make any difference to AoC numbers seeing as the people that left WOW to play AoC are already back to the blizzard game; and the ones who stayed say they wont be playing WOW anymore. And that is because as they say world of warcraft, WAS a good and cool game to play, once - some years ago.

What about the players that dont give a shit about xfire or other utterly useless programms?

Like , i dunno, me and at least 60 people i know of in AoC.

LOTRO is very nice game.

 Nicely made, polished with really cool features.

Also you will find running in a dungeon with a full group of people killing stuff absolutely amazing.

By far the best pve experience.

PvP is fun too. You get access to a  feature called monster play at lvl 10 which allows you to create a monster character which starts at max game lvl, lvl 50.

In my opinion, its a must play.

Gamers with access to the internet need to realize that if you don't like a game you just don't play it and that's all about it.

Noone really cares if you like AoC or not, no need to bash it then, because that is what's killing it.

Randoms here and there, sign up on any gaming forum they can find and bash the game they dont like.

Just dont play it. Its that simple.

Funcom didnt deliver what they promised i agree.

But the game is fairly playable and by far more enjoyable than most of the other games out there.

I dont think anyone is forcing you to play their game.

In fact i believe that the haters are actually the ones who like the game and want to play it but some aspects of it drive them into hating it.

There are  SEVERAL ways to avoid someone spawn camping you (or in general).

I seriously hope FC does nothing about this.

If you do not have the required brain power to escape / avoid 1 - 2 people then move on to another game, or the pve servers.

I have been spawn killed at least 20 times already, but i dont let them do it repeatedly.

Wait a bit, pm other players to help you get out of spawn , then co-operate with them and own the griefer.

For me its quite simple. Maybe im a genius. Maybe you other ppl are just dumb.

Either way, PVP in AoC is not broken - neither a joke.

U dont really get what happened.

These ppl kept killing the spawn camper that killed their lowbies.

And the lamer reported them.

Sure im not in anyone's side , but if u kill a camper a few times is fine.

KOS or not its a bit harassing killing someone for an hour...

There's so many ways to avoid spawn campers.

1.Go in hide mode as fast as you can.(if u have the skill)

2.Res to another point. If not available, stay dead till he is gone.(who is he gonna kill after everyone is dead?)

3.Change instance. Top right of screen, the little triangle between the clock and the map. He cannot kill you in a different instance.

There's even more ways to do this but it requires brain power so im not gonna post them.

So 3 obvious ways to avoid to get spawn CAMPED and not KILLED ( you are going to get killed once, we're trying to avoid the camper now.)

But, everyone finds it easier to do this. In this particular order as well.

1.Keeps ressurecting his character at the same spot the camper is - over and over again.

2.After 20mins he decides that the OOC channel in the chat is the best place to start whining in.

3.After he is told he is a dumb carebear in the OOC channel by the rest of us, he starts crying on AoC forums.

4.After he is told the same thing as above in the forums too, he joins MMORPG.com and every other gaming forum / fansite / blog and keeps his whining there.

5.Goes to bed cause its too late.School tomorrow.

6.After school opens up PC and plays AoC.

7.Dies during PVE. Spawns to the nearest res spot and gets killed by someone who is weak / lame enough to spawn camp.

8.Repeats the whole process.

If it was stable why would they still be on beta?

The game would have been released if there was nothing to fix and polish out.

Plus the devs have said a million times in both beta and normal forums that the general beta client is not the client that will be used at launch.

The beta client also runs the debugger at the background  which causes a lot of stalls while loading something.

I agree that its frustrating to not being able to play AoC, but , you have to give those ppl credits for trying until the last second to give ppl like YOU and great game to play.

I cannot of course tell you what to do, or what game you should play and not. Its all up to you.

However, i'd like to point this out.

My pc died a couple days ago and i am using my gf;s atm while she;s getting a new one.

My point is that AoC was all laggy and unplayable on my old pc which had these specs :

P4 @ 3 Ghz / 2 gigs RAM @ 800 MHz / ATI HD 2900 XT / MSI P945 mobo(not really sure of the model)

As u can see that was a mid end computer with a couple good stuff in it and some that were 4 years old.

My g's pc on the other hand has these in it : E6750 @ 2.66 GHz / 1 gig RAM @ 667 MHz / ATI HD 2900 XT / Asus Digital home P5W DH Deluxe mobo.

It cannot run at high settings cause of low ram but at medium im getting average 35-40 FPS and on lowest 64-70 FPS.

The verdict? AoC beta client is weird. It works for some ppl and for others it just doesnt.

Seriously, this game is being financed by the Greek government.  They have absolutely no incentive to get the game to market.  The longer they take to make the game the more money the developers get.  The dirty little secret about game industry is that 95% of the employees are needed BEFORE launch and if there is no "next project" then most of your staff is unemployed once the game releases.

The people making the game are doing it as a hobby.  None of them have real world MMORPG experience.  They are just milking the development cycle for all they can before someone in the Greek government decides to call them on it.  Until then, they have no incentive to get the game to market.
