2. companions will exist and be available within the entire MMO world with all other players. And in an MMO it will surely be lame to have 3 people in a group with 3 clone companions following them. Since the game is scripted its likely the npc wont be customizable so we'll see a group with 3 companions all named Ji-Jon, etc

so basically we'll either have a quasi- mmo where most of us solo like guild wars (which really isnt an mmo). Or we'll have several Ji-Jon npc's in a single area where players gather.

I dont see any place for "companions" in a true MMO. And despite what Bioware says, it sounds like a pet to me. Maybe Im not controlling the npc per say but it still means more dps between some storyline Im forced to follow to advance.

Puma713 the exact same thing happens to me. It was not like that at first, but one time after it crashed i log in to see all but the hud black. I have to open video options and hit "apply" .. strange.

I got the collectors ed from amazon for $10 dollars to check it out a bit back. I was play CoH at the time (a game i still like allot) but wanted that fantasy exploration feel I like in a RPG. This game has fantasy and exploration in loads! My guild from back when I played WoW went to try Conan ... so I got it to play with them. .. Im back with Vanguard now. (Though I did like Conans landscapes) I ran Conan on high setting at around 20 -30 fps, and Vanguard runs on high settings at 50 -60 fps

noooooob. on one server there maybe 300 guilds, making unqiue spots for 500 guildhalls is so inpracticle that I laugh at you. there ARe non instanced keeps, 9 per server (pracitcal number!). but because there are only 9 and many guilds you will have to fight over them!!! hence they are called battle keeps.

You know I actually dont mind the instance guild city thing. The only thing I dont like about it is the only people who can come visit our guild city are our guild members and the other to guilds in the instances guild members. No one else can even come to our instance (unless they are grouped with some one who is in one of the guilds)

 

Because this is how it works. Our guild city is in instance #8. You can not change instances or pick an instance when entering the build/harvest zone. So if you dont pick "go to guild city" and go to your own instance, you are placed into the next instance that is not full. Like if 1-4 were full you would go into 5. We are 8, and there are never 7 full instances.

This is actually good for us and the other two guilds for harvesting at least. Because when we pick "go to guild city" we are placed into the instance and if no one else is there atm then the instance spawns a new. After a little the nodes fill up and you can run around and collect as much of what ever you want.

If you are going to use that philosophy, then what Is the point of playing games? Why spend all your time when in the end, it is just a waste of time and will not help you what so ever.

I don't get why anyone would spend the wasted time to pass bogus info..just to try and prevent someone else they don't know from potentially trying/liking the game.

Name ONE thing about Guild cities that is working. Other than the fact that you can build a pointless structure that cost a tone of coin.

Fact is that it is possibly the MAIN selling point of this game and it does not even work AT ALL.

Are you and your guild getting buffs from your buildings? Do you have a trader in your city? How about those npc guards running around your town?

None of these things are happening ... and they are not going to any time soon. Because the buildings do NOTHING.

Right now you can print out some screen shots of guild city buildings and tape them to your monitor, they will have the same effect in the game.

HoX. I have 2000 mana and one spell that cost 200 mana .. no other mana spell. I have 600 stamina and 6 combos that are heavy on stamina use. What is the deal here? Those combos do Magic damage .. they should make half the cost for those combos be mana.

Well I see what your saying about team members should not have to be auto track on the mini map. BUT, here is the problem. Everyone looks the same. At any distance no one stands out. We are all wearing the same looking armor. Sure its an RPG .. but i need a way to tell my team members apart from others. AND that is if you can even SEE them. Team members constantly vanish, while mobs and other players even are still visible at great distance. Some one will say on coms "Im right here next to this hut with the wagon and we cant see each other untill we are 10 feet from each other then POP ... there they are.

Dont wory to much about mounts ... my PoM could out run all the mounts ive seen so far, because of the way stamina works with sprinting.

I have shut down my account as of today. I have a 42 PoM /a 34 HoX /a 24 DP /a 22 hunter.

First let me say the Landscapes look great, and the game ran real smooth on my computer.

First problem. HoX destiny quest. The main quest of the first 20 levels of this class is broken. For ALL HoX you can not go past one conversation. Everyone knows about it and its been like this since day one. you have to page a GM and wait many hours or do this thing that dumps that quest and sets you to the next one. You miss the story, you miss the exp, you miss the quest rewards, its stupid.

Problem two, grouping. This game is built around solo questing. One of my guild mates and I grouped for almost all of the level on our mains. It was a pain in the butt. It is very hard to find team mates on the map. (They did improve this some by making larger icons but they are missing half the time, it just does not work very often) Quests that have objectives that say to pick up an item in an instance many times only work for the first person to click the item. Then the instance has to be reset for another person to pick up the item.                  Team buffs are buggy.  if two team members have health + buffs cast they conflict on the other team members as the two buff fight for control, draining the life of the team members in the process. Its easy enough to shut off one of the buffs but its just stupid that its like that.

Problem 3, gathering, crafting. At 20 you start gathering. But one of the recourses is broken ... Cotton, no one can get cotton. Ok.. so we just focus on the other things.   Level 40 comes and were all checking out crafting professions. 3 of the proffesions are broken. Armor smith. you cant complete the first quest because you need to make something with cotton. Ok ... so I try making other things, but they are so useless in the stats that our level 25 gear is better than this level 40 crafted stuff. ... Well they have GEM slots. So i take gem crafting thinking it will make the items worth it. I make a nice +10 magic damage gem and put it in a leather glove. Its going to be cool...... then I mouse over it to look...... and it crashes the game! Every time you mouse over it crashes the game! So I check the forums ... sure enough its not just me..... Gem crafting is BROKEN..... it will crash the game if you actually slot one into something..... JUST GREAT.

There is other junk to but to top it all off ..... Guild Cities. We build a keep ... and a trade post and ... and this stuff does NOTHING. Guild cities do nothing at all right now .. no buffs ... no traders in the trade posts... it does not get attacked by NPCs .. nothing .. totally non functional. There is no ETA on when it will function. Its just not implemented ......

I may try again some day.

I love Bard in Vanguard. The "make your own spell" songs of the Bard are awesome.

Also Vanguard is huge, and bards REALLY know how to get around.

Yeah all the games we are listing here need a purchase. Though the also have free trials.

There is a link right on this site for the 14 day trial of CoH. (i was only gonna play that trial to see what it was like but I got hooked and got the game. I got the dual pack of CoH/CoV off of Amazon for $20)

daoc and Everquest have trials too im pretty sure.

I wont be happy untill the day I can head east and eventually wrap around to where I started. Of course they would have to downsize the over all planet size to a point where the gravity would not be realistic but it still would be great to have a round world.
