When I installed the game on my GF's comp, I copied the entire game directory to an external drive. We then installed the game with the DVD onto her comp (to get the registry stuff, I'm sure there is an easier way to copy the registry information). We then just copied the game over the installed files and did not have to patch. If this is a new computer, I would recommend deleting the user folder. If doing a fresh install, I would recommend deleting the cache folder. Combined they are 11mb to re-download. Best of luck! |

You notice patterns and then discard the results that don't fit the pattern you noticed. My GF and I play SHs together. We only play those 2 chars together and they usually ding within a min of each other. Any who, we laugh every time that I get a loot roll because I seem to have better luck than she does. We normally have to sell at the same time because . . . we normally get the same amount of loot, go figure. While I agree that the contribution system needs to be looked at (the thing that gives you +50 - +500 to your roll), I disagree on the RNG being FUBAR. Now you do know that if you loose (don't get a bag at all), the next time you do the PQ you get +100 to your roll on top of your contribution bonus, right? |

You would have to run it on your server at times you like to play to figure it out for yourself. I will tell you that SH and Magus for Destro prob yields lowest numbers. |

I enjoy the crafting system, and while I hate BW's, I can still kill them and survive. You see a hex on you, just run away, let them target someone else, then come back fo the kill. |

They just need to put in a mentor system like EQ2 but with better scailing. In open RVR rather than make people chickens, just give them a bolster like skill that prevents them from using abilities above a level, and drops thier stats, health and power. |

Renown rank doesn't need to be so close to level. Not sure if it changes later, but most of the gear you get for renown needs your level to be almost 75% higher. As to the toggle, with them taking steps to adjust the population, I doubt we would see this anytime soon. I would prefer to see them put in a mentor system like EQ2 (with better scaling). But a /xp toggle would be an easier/faster/poorer way for them to accomplish this. |

A healer can choose to take on all INT gear and spec their damage mastery line and thus be a hybrid dps/healer (like a DoK or WP but ranged). If that is their play style then that is their choice. Now they are not going to be like a BW or SORC but they may hit SH or SW level of damage dealt, and have heals as a secondary function. It doesn't matter if you think this in ineffective. It is their choice to play their class the way they want to. Would I want to group with such a healer, not unless there was a dedicated healer, but they may be nice as a secondary healer. Would I be agitated to have one in our scenario, probably, unless we won. |

There is a post in the Zealot forum that says something like comprehensive step by step comparison of Shaman and Zealot where the guy breaks it down piece by piece. Read that first and use it to help you decide how you want to heal. |

I'll disagree with that. I play a healer and I do a good job keeping my team alive. It makes me angry when I try to play anything BUT a healer, and I am backed up by incompetent healers. Seriously.. It's not hard.
QFT The only reason I like to play my RP is because when I do, we win most of the time. I'm not pretending to be an elite player, but I think we've all been in a scenario where a healer or two DID THIER JOB and it made it so much easier to win. There is nothing more frustrating than being anything but a healer and loosing because one or two people choose not to do their job. Yeah, its your right to play how you want, but please roll a different class. |

Its not live! (servers are down again, lol) I don't like this personally. It may help T4 balance as one side will hit T4 faster, but it doesn't do anything for the other tier balance. I know it is a problem in every MMORPG to date, but I would like to see them address imbalance within an area, not just a server. So a server may have more destruction, but maybe 2x as much order in one area. Something should be done to give those Destruction at least a fun fighting chance. Something else needs to be done about making RVR lakes during T1/2/3 more encouraging. Like. . . maybe have scenario groups spawn there instead of in an instance, up the rewards for that type of RvR, or put more quests in those areas. |

As far as their combustion doing damage to them, 1 HOT, for healers its an instant cast, is all it takes for them to keep up the damage and survive their spells. The extra damage is worth it for the TEAM. 1 instant cast HOT by you makes that BW do 2x as much damage easy, tearing apart tanks and anything else. There is a line between being a Snob Healer and being a Team Player. I think your post is very reasonable, the OP and the people right after him are out to lunch though. Yeah, you can't help someone who is suicidal and when they complain you can laugh and tell them why they died. But to eco the poster after you, there is no reason why the OP can't throw an INSTANT CAST HOT on me when I'm jumping all around him trying to get his attention. I know how to play as a team, and I'll root, snare, KB and kill anything that touches you until we both die. |

Yeah, people are not going to know how to do this or that, but if everyone just says screw it and does their own thing then the team falls apart. So, you can just tell the person off, or ignore them. . . OR you could help point them in the right direction. PUG are always going to be tough. Do you get in a group with your guild mates and not heal? I'm going to assume you DO HEAL because ITS YOUR JOB and YOU ARE PART OF A TEAM. Scenarios are the SAME THING minus everyone knowing their role.
My GF is new to the game and MMORPGs. Very simple instructions to her, stay back near the healer so they can keep you alive, kill anyone in range. If someone runs up to your healer, slow them, root them, or use the knockback, kill anything touching the healer. So... she not in your guild, a little slow to react (has problems clicking) and you're not going to heal her.
So the take home point for you mad elite healers running around with The Snob titles, teach those around you and the game becomes better for all. RvR is a TEAM sport. Refusing to be part of the team because someone else is not being a team player defeats the point of a TEAM sport. Oh, and just an example of how a few words can help you out. Dude keeps killing the quest mob. I know the quest only needs him killed once, so after the third time rather than tell him off ( I was bad mouthing him to my GF sitting next to me IRL ) I asked him why? He was trying to get it to drop the orders so he could inspect them. So I told him about the 3rd tab in the bag for quest items, and he felt like an idiot, thanked me and left. |

To answer the question in the topic, yes. If a dps person did nothing while you got your butt handed to you then you would complain too. A healer's job is to keep his TEAM alive, not just his group. Here's a suggestion, on that party window that pops up when you join a scenario, click on the check boxes for the first 2. It will show the health bars for everyone on your side, then you can click on them and heal them. If a RP or an AM are doing constant damage (not the occasional dot) while people are dying then they are doing something wrong. A WP is a bit tricky, but if their health is full and they are not healing someone else while doing damage then they are doing something wrong.
Now with that being said, you do have the right to play your class however you want. So if you want to be the Elf version of a watered down Bright Wizard then go ahead. But you have to expect people to complain that you are not filling the expected role. |

The Herald pointed me to a Mod that is supported by the game developers. You can find it at this siteL It is called spam me not, and what it does is filter incoming /tell messages for gold spam. It will then block that from being seen by you. Instead it just shows A message from thisperson was blocked. There is an icon in the top right by the map that you can click, where it tells you what the message was. The program automatically sends a message to the devs with the person's name and the message they sent you. This latest patch fixed some problems with the /ignore list and also added some options to reporting gold spammers. The Devs take the gold problem seriously. Use the above mod and you'll be much happier about the gold situation, and you'll be doing your part by reporting every message in detail. Best of luck! |
