I playo n Stormrage server and the population is dwindeling.  For like 48 hours there was massive PVP when the patch came out and now it has dwindled back to pre PVP patch numbers because in all honesty, the PVP patch isn't all that impressive.

You get like a couple new armor sets per class basically...really only 1 extra class specific armor and it's cool i guess.  But now the PVP xp has created a massive ganking fest on all PVP servers it seems.  People mindlessly run around Khesh trying to kill every red player they see for pvp xp...so it is a horrible time to be level 70-79 right now.

PVP mini games are still pretty obsolete on Stormrage.  Nobody really enrolls in them and the people that do are the same fing people so you get the diminished returns for xp and after you kill someone 5 times it turns into 1xp instead of 100xp.  So that sux.

This game is pretty boring.  Raids are getting old, pvp is getting old, this game is getting old in my opinion.  I've been in 3 different guilds from small (which you cant do dick with), medium (descent but still cant do dick with), and large (which is hard to organize for effective pvp).  So i'm tired of this game and I will soon be leavingat least temporarily until something epic releases.

I find it hard to have the motivation to log in because really in all reality there is absolutely no point except to hang out with friends.

Too bad nothing else descent is out.  Back to 360....

Tha being said, I must admit to being pissed at FUNCOM.  Not because Conan was SO bad but because of the way they lied to promote the game and then became fascists on their forums to stem the tide of complaints.

I wanted to play this game and enjoy it for years. Now I am involuntarily being counted as a subscriber until December sometime, as I bought a 6 month subscription.

Maybe the posts here are becoming small because people are actually playing the game?  Have you been to the AOC forums lately?  They are full of gripes and complaints.  They are shielding nothing anymore because moderators know that it is due at this point since the PVP patch has been delayed AGAIN.

Now everyone is over on the WAR forums saying that is a fail.  Nothing new here....

Just want to say if you haven't already, join a guild.  There is no way possible to enjoy this game unless you're in a large guild that goes raiding/sieging etc.  Other than that, wait till the PVP patch and see if that tickles you.

Why would a male want to look at a male character all day when he can look at a female character?

Its simple to answer.

Memory leaks.

From early start in beta, the game has been riddled with huge memory problems. Everyone that knows a tiny bit about such issues knew then and knows now how big of a problem they can be and it can take years to fix them in the games that suffer from this issue..

But - AOC is not only a single player game.  Its a game where GROUP of ppl are supposed to play together and I think everyone can see how memory leaks and crashes are the last thing that these games need.   Who wants to go to a dungeon and finding out half way through - after 30 mins of grouping up and starting the run - that your tank is loosing connection every 10 mins...  Yes... thats what is happening in AOC atm.

Basicly - memory leaks are the cause of bad coding.  It happens in pretty much every game to certain extend, but only becomes problems in games that use huge amount of memory - therefor leaking it faster to the degree of the game or PC crashing.

In early days of AOC I suffered alot cause of these memory issues and I know exactly how it feels to actually try to work with ppl - both in long questlines and in dungeon runs when some ppl are plauged with these issues.  Its not fun.  And it simply not acceptable in a MMORPG game.

THe fact of the matter is that AOC is at this point using TWICE as much memory as the most populare MMOs out there atm.  It is littered with huge gaping holes in the code that are causing huge problems and even tho Funcom say they are fixing something - the truth is that less than 1/10 of the problems can be delt with without totally recoding the game.

Now someone might point out - "Well - I have had no problems with memory while playing AOC.  It must be the crappy PC that you are using".  This is not the case with memory leaks.  Many diffrent issues can be causing memory problems.

I said it from day one - when I entered AOC beta that AOC had failed if ONE single person would be suffering from Memory leaks when the game went retail.  THe fact is that big portion of players have had problems with memory leaks.  And since this is an MMO game - the problems dont only lie with the individual who is playing on his pc.  It lies with the OTHER players he plays with.

Key factor in good MMO is the stability of the game.  THats why many of the best and most populare MMOs are build on simple but stable coding.  This is NOT the case with AOC.  Thats why I recomend everyone to think - not only twice but 10 times before they buy this game cause yes.. You will be 10 times more likely to encounter memory problems in AOC.  Not only on your PC - But also seeing this problem with ppl that you meet up with in the game.

Do you even play the game anymore?  Most memory leaks have been fixed at this point and believe me I would know because I play this game on a POS laptop.  The main memory leaks at this point are during Sieges and less commonly on full Raid parties.

I'm not saying the game is entirely stable or a good MMORPG, but you are basing the entire quality of one MMORPG entirely on the fact of stability and coding which you obviously have no idea what it is.

This is a worthless post as your argument is completely fallable and you have no justification to truly say this game will never be considered a good MMO.

Please, do all of us a favor who play this game or not and talk about how badly there is no content in end game, or how unbalanced pvp is instead of basing your argument not only on how 'unstable the game is' but on how 'unstable the game was in beta' which is completely ludacrous to bring that up now that the game has been released.

The fact is for the most part true, no content has been added since launch.  Nothing significant anyway.

Most of what has been added since launch is mostly bug/crash fixes (which still aren't working 100%), adding in things that were supposed to have been in in the first place (sieging, siege weapons, etc), and some dungeon fixes which can hardly be called adding content.  Not in my book anyway.

The PVP update isn't even really adding content to be honest.  It is just an update to the current combat, adding a murder system (joy, not), and probably further class balancing and unbalancing which will remain for the rest of the games life.

My prediction is that we won't see future content being put in - ie) thunder river dungeon, etc. until November at the earliest unless they've been being super conservative (which would be a smart marketing move) and start rolling out update after update of significant content after the PVP update this week, which I highly doubt because most MMORPG companies retain their customers by the prospective idealogy that there is hope for the game in the future.

A lot of people are pissed that there is an expansion coming out and they think that content should be free, but I would just be grateful to pay for something that I can actually do stuff with at level 80 instead of the constant $15 to pay for the same crap day after day with nothing new rolling around.  I have no problem paying $30 to actually do something for a month that is interesting instead of Raid/Siege/Raid/Siege/level up guildies/Raid/Siege/Raid/Siege endlessly.  Raiding the same dungeons (which really aren't that interesting in the first place) just gets old.

Who knows what the future holds for AOC.  They have descent base content right now, it just seems too little too late at this point unless like I said, major content updates start pouring out after the PVP update which is highly unlikely in my opinion as currently there is nothing to do worthwhile/significant in end game content except SSDD.

Maybe I am just growing tired of all MMORPGs.

Your comp is fine.

Various bugs and crashes have been fixed since you left.  End game content is still boring as sin and there are crashes in sieges which are the most common crashes to date it seems.

I say wait at least 2 more weeks because by then the PVP update will be put in and the bugs of the patch will be worked out.

I am looking to upgrade my PC...actually build an entirely new PC from scratch and I was wondering

what is the next level of Intel processors that performs slightly better than the AMD 6000 X2 but is around the same price area?

Thanks in advance!

really?  it's meant to be that way?

I mean in all seriousness and b****ing aside, i feel like that tactic ruins the gameplay of siege warfare.

Or perhaps it is just an outstanding tactic that should be recognized and other tactics should be discovered...

The matter is if there are any other tactics that are equally as strong because that is an extremely potent tactic in my opinion

Okay, I learned today that if you put a Necro with pets and a TOS together and the TOS puts Storm (lightning AOE buff overtime) on the pets that you can get each of the pets to do about 300dmg per tick when they're surrounded by players.  I think that it's a ridiculous tactic.

It takes complete fun out of the game because basically it's a necros and TOS's pvp world.  If the necro has 8 pets or whatever then any players in the way are F'd.  Can you say unbalanced?  I'm never one for nerfing or anything like that, but I REALLY don't think that's just plain fair.  In Sieges they rip through groups with no problem at all.

I think this needs to be taken out of the game because I don't think pets should be able to get that buff.  It's bad enough those pets lag out siege fights period.

LAME!

Dude expansion is far away and things in expansion are not meant to be on release.
You do know that expansion is planed for 2009 and by how many issues they have I dont think it will be like early 2009 more likely late 2009.

There is a lot of things they need to fix/add so that game is worth the money you/we already payed.

Just some of the fixes needed:
- Memory leaks / client freezes
- PvP XP + ranks
- PvP items
- Fixed sieging ( well its working now but there are few very annoying bugs like : your own guards will attack you during siege )
- Gem and crafting tweaking
- Fixing raid bosses ( tier 1 is ok , tier 2 and on is ok at beginning but then ... )
- Itemization

Then few things they should do before expansion
- More PvP content as I dont see just XP and sieging will entertain players for long time
- More client optimization as for some is running like crap even on good gaming machines
( the whole engine is a bit wierd tbh )
and few other things

For some strange reason they are investing way to much time for low-mid level content instead of taking care of end game one.

It seems they wanna "polish" it and make whole game like initial tortage was ( great pve content ) by adding bunch of quests and some new zones/dungeons, tweaking existing ones and making them more fun and adding voice overs ... its all OK but whats not OK is by the time they are jerking around with that there are whole bunch of high level ( max level ) players scratching their asses and wonder what to do ( beside quit )

Well only time will tell despite all hate khm expert exchange professionals and MMO developers here I think eventually they will make Age of Conan great, however that does not mean players should stay and support it while they develop ( <- what should be done before release ) so as soon as you get bored make sure you put it on hold.

So far I still have lots of fun with the game but thats mainly because of the guild community and events we have .. if i was solo player mostlikely I would left Age of Conan like 1 or 2 weeks after I would hit level 80 ( iam level 80 now for more then 2 months )

I hope all those disappointed players will find some fun in upcoming MMO's like WAR and/or Aion etc..

A lot of current haters really like the Age of Conan for what it should be and Iam speaking about the ones who like combo system and that instances are not something game breaking .. all those were just so disappointed by release  ( as they should be couse funcom did screw up ) that they need to vent here.

p.s. Usually the loudest haters are the ones who really loved the game at begining .. not counting some of those that are trolling just to defend some of their prefered game and those that just like to troll and did not even play the game ( you can see them posting/trolling in some other forums too )

I 100% agree.

I personally don't think the review is that great.  It also fails to mention one of the biggest drawbacks of AOC right now - lack of end game content.  There is NOTHING FUN TO DO AT LEVEL 80 WHATSOEVER.

Raiding is boring as shit and takes way too much coordination for the average AOC player.  And PVP is virtually pointless.  F'n A!

Well I've done some surfing around and I think that I have found at least a mild fix.  I am not sure if it is a coincidence right now or not but what i did was I went into my view network connections and right clicked on the connection i used---> props----> i uninstalled the QOS Packet Scheduler and rebooted PC and it seems to have worked great right.  100% improvement.

However, once again, not sure if this is a coincidence or not.  Lemme know if this works for anyone else.

Have any of the rest of you experienced higher than usual ping the past couple days?

My ping has been at 500-700 ms (yellow) 80% of the time and 1000-2000 ms (red) 8% of the time and 2% green.  No joke.  PVE is almost unbearable and PVP is now literally impossible.

I am trying to figure out if anyone else is experiencing this.  This started the day before the patch.  I thought if they reset servers it would go away.  But it didnt.  The GM's said to just verify/repair and that didn't work.

Anyone else?  Am I alone?

thanks.

AOC's Instancing:

GOOD:

- Can escape spawn camping on PVP server.  If people follow you to the other instance that is a BANNABLE offense.

- Can find a less crowded instance if you need a specific area and you don't have a big enough group to take over the designated area of your questing.

- Improves performance of game.

BAD:

- Doesn't seem as large as other MMORPG's.  Makes AOC feel small rather.

- Takes away from immersion of a true one world.

UGLY:

- The fact that AOC has a couple of instances pissed A LOT of people off.

Personally, I like the instancing at least in AOC.  I believe the game would be worse off if it didn't have it.  However, if they could somehow expand the zones a little bit and make them larger and cover more area, then I would prefer a non-instanced game.  Actually, I would probably always prefer a non-instanced game, but unless the zones get bigger in AOC, I don't see this happening.  All I have to say is, at least it's not overdone like GW where there are like 50 instances of the same zone.  That would truly kill the game if there were more than 2 or 3 instances.

Welcome to the AOC forums.

One question, where can I read your articles?

1) Siege Battles as well as added content for Siege Battles.

2) Items (armor is entirely boring from 1-80) (also more diversity in drops-keep getting the same ones all the time)

3) Improved Client stability

4) Better Raid content.  More skill and challenge, especially for 24 people raid.  It's kind of just a button pressing and running around orgy.

5) Some form of leveling past level 80.  PVP leveling maybe?  Some sort of purpose at 80 to keep people addicted to playing it.  I want PVP mini games everywhere.  I don't care if it's instanced or not, but i want an online CS for AOC practically.  I want to get online on a saturday night and kill people and get xp for it and get cool loot as well.

this is a good thread, maybe devs will listen.
