Calvin Crowner, Development Manager for Ultima Online describes what it's like to do his job in the Ultima Herald.

Ultima Online is the Internet's premiere virtual world. It?s a role-playing game you access through a Web connection. You choose your own virtual life and immerse yourself into the mystical, medieval world of Britannia, where you have an unprecedented degree of freedom to shape your own destiny. You actually become a part of the epic saga that unfolds on a daily basis.
Really, UO is whatever you make it to be. When we asked some of our current Ultima Online players to tell us what it is to them, the most common answers were:
'UO is somewhere I can meet new people and enjoy the company of friends.' 'UO is where I can fight mythical creatures to the death!' 'UO is the most exciting virtual space I've ever existed in!' 'UO is where I've made friends from all over the world!' 'UO is where I can be a virtuous knight, or an evil, treacherous mage.' 'UO is the place where I can be whatever I want to be.'
Feature list:
Live a Virtual Life The possibilities for your new virtual life are truly endless - build a house, craft a sword, tame animals, run a shop, delve deep into perilous dungeons or just chat over a goblet of virtual ale. In the virtual world of Ultima Online you are free to do whatever you choose. Players have built whole cities, formed guilds and waged large-scale wars in the virtual world of Britannia.
Jumping in is Easy Begin your experience with an interactive tutorial that will guide you through the basic game mechanics. From here you are welcome to visit Haven, an entire town filled with objects from the game for you to practice on and an entire legion of volunteers to guide your training.
Live in Peace Whether you want to engage in combat with other players is up to you. A new land-mass that equals the size of the original Britannia has been added for those who want to develop their virtual life in peace. With this new area comes a major increase in the space available for building your dream castle.
Join a Global Community The virtual world of Ultima Online transcends international boundaries with players that live their real lives in one of 114 countries around the world. With extensive communications tools in the game, including a revolutionary on-the-fly language translator (Systran), you'll make friends you never thought possible. Adventure with the people you meet using the extensive party system that allows you to combine your strength and share in the profits of your adventures.
