I live in the U.K and recently went looking for Aion in the largest shopping centre near me . I thought I would have a look for Aion and see if it was as yet being offerd at lower prices . Theres plenty of game orientated shops there such as Game and HMV as well as indpendant stores . I was quite shocked to find after looking i saw plenty of copies of games like Age of Conan ,Everquest , Lotro etc but only found one copy (in HMV) of Aion and they did'nt even have it out on display . I did'nt buy it because I'd seen it cheaper online but even places like Play.com dwho on't stock it but only have it on order via thier suppliers ( hence a two week wait rather than the normal 48 hours) . Its strange that shops arn't stocking a relativly new game in significant numbers . Perhaps it just does'nt sell that well ?

Still tons of copies here in the states at 50 USD.   It's just not selling much as the moment.  Guessing because of the hiccups the game has had which is well documented here by fellow players here and elsewhere.  And honestly, if I could go back to Christmas time, I would not buy this game again.   My opinion, but this game was a big waste of time and money.

See, i have to disagree with the post above me on the fact of this game being a waste of time and money when yet, it is not.

NCSoft is the only company besides blizzard that i know to actually update their games, and yeah, they may have had a rough starting to their population and sales with the game, but with the vision that they have for the game, and with the patches coming out that are offering so much in such a little time, makes the game not a waste of money or time.

Once the game gets more content, and more levels with more things for people to do and an easier grind, which, are all coming in v1.9 , people will give the game a try again, and slowly but surely Aion will reach its potential that everyone knew it was going to reach.

I have to disagree as well. I wasn't able to play Aion because of a bad monitor for a while. Now that I have a good one, I've dropped all other games (MMOs and single-player) in favor of Aion. To me Aion is the best game out there so far, and I guess only TERA can change that for me...

About updating... Partly true. Indeed, from the big developers, NCSoft and Blizzard are the ones updating their games on regular basis (why else would I have stayed in Lineage II for 3+ years?). But don't forget about CCP, giving game updates every 3-6 months, and when you look at the indy developers, you see that most of them update their games even on a more regular basis than the "big boys".
Last month I started out with Fallen Earth, and that MMO is even updated twice a week. Mostly fixes, but also content changes/tweaks. I also know that they're still in the process of adding new sectors as well.

Back on topic... Here in Holland, almost every major store that sells computer games has Aion on stock.

At the end it's all an opinion.  Aion was not for me.   If you are enjoying the game, that's great because actually I too did enjoy Aion but it just got tedious and boring for me.

Where respectfully disagree is that updating part.   Sure Aion devs update thier games as well as WoW, however other MMO companies out there still update thier games and better then Aion does.   Holiday themed filled with quests and goodies,  but Aion starting to charge real money for holiday themed items is something that turned me off.   How much greed is enough for a MMO company is enough?  Just hope it's not the sign of the times if other MMOs start charging extra for "optional" content like getting a fluff items.  Yes it's fluff items now, but when will it start to be items that actually are useful in the game.

If you like to play dress up, endlessly grind off cutesy teenie-booper mobs, 90 pound girls fighting with toy-like weapons that looks like it weighs twice as much as the wielder then Aion is for you! Oh and the future of Aion has more "girlie" fluff. Houses with huge candy on it, mounts that look like it came straight out of a kiddie anime cartoon. Come on kiddy bunnies for a mount?! Are you serious?! How can any adult male play this game seriously and not question his manhood or sexuality.

To me, Aion is Hello Kitty Online with PvP. Like a big teenage pillow fight.

I would just like to add that Turbine is perhaps the best company when it comes to constant updates.

Now to add to the post...

Aion is a game you either hate or love. For me, it was hate. If I wanted to grind away in a fantasy setting I would google "Asian MMO" and go to town... for free. The graphics look decent (I just hate the art style) but the game play just isn't there for me. I to was brought in with the promise of "Innovative Features" of which I have seen none. Sure we have all seen the "Vision" trailer but then again how many times have we seen an awesome trailer just to get the finished product and say "Wtf? This isn't how the trailer looked!". Kinda like those fast food ad's on tv all the time. If only a Big Mac looked like that :( Then again I may be suprised and it may be more like the Big Carl ad (the sandwich you get actually LOOKS like the ad!).

- Case: Thermaltake Kandalf Black Chassis
- CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz (OC'd 4.2GHz on Water Cooling)
- Memory: Mushkin 8Gb (4x 2Gb) DDR3 1600Mhz
- HDD: Dual Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM
- GFX: (2) XFX Radeon HD 5870 in CrossFire - New upgrade! :)

I agree with this.

Look, i'm a fan of the game but there were things that were mentioned when they announced the game that just didn't manifest. Such as each server changing with how the players played or weather affecting spells and abilities.

Now, I'm all for game companies makign changes and believe they should be allowed to make changes. However, for those people who were hanging their hopes on a "new" innovative game I can't say that Aion has delivered.

Still, I'm just looking to have fun so I dont' really care about innovation, I get enough of that in my real life.

Most Koreans or Asian game companies came up with mmorpg from low end F2P to P2P in these two years. And Aion maybe their first fruitful result. In many aspects compare with older companies like Turbine, Ncsoft still has decent distance to compare. A game is not just graphics, although there are quite a lot of animations and colors in the game but the AI and combat engine still at the level of a F2P quality, especially while Aion is not a shooting game. But the AI in Aion is just like a shooting game, there is no life in the combat, only numbers.

For a entry level player, Aion may satisfied them well because it is almost all-in. I will say it is typical traditional Korean mixed food, they threw in all sorts of food from yesterday and put some fresh food from today.

So a sophisticated game design takes time for the designers to make. Since all F2P companies have upgraded their deisgn abilities, we would see more F2P turning to P2P now and the near future. But I still don't think Asian game companies would catch up with the game design ability from Blizzard or Turbine or even Square Enix.

I was at the store today and there was a bunch of AION's priced at 50$

The thing is, Aion still sells ALOT of boxes, even if it doesn't keep all the subscriptions at this time.

Playing: Lord of The Rings Online, Age of Conan, & World of Warcraft

Waiting For: Guild Wars 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, T.E.R.A.: Exiled Realm of Arborea, Final Fantasy XIV, Rift: Planes of Telara

In the UK your unlikely to find any game other than WoW in the shops, and not many at that... most MMO's these days are usually purchased through online retailers, amazon, play, steam etc, about the only games you can buy in shops these days are console games or the occasional new release for the PC...

I just got the game tonight off amazon new for $26 bucks. Easy to find online for a very low price.

For me AION is both good and bad... sometimes i am like.. omg, AION is the FTW around, and some other times I can barely keep myself from throwing the game down the toilet...

My only concern is the grind, and lack of quests, and such... more stuff will be good.. really!!!!

Yep, most of the stores unless in the cities seem to be phasing out PC games from their shelves. Places like Game and Gamestation who had massive sections for PC not 6 months ago in my area have now down sized to a couple of shelves tucked away and hard to find, both of them have also stopped stocking most games when they release. Other places like HMV, Tesco etc have pulled them from stock completely and have no plans to sell them again.

The way things are headed everything to do with the PC will need to be bought online. Odd when you look at the jump in income from PC games between 2008 and 2009, $11billion net in 2008 and $13billion net in 2009. They do make plenty of money from us but alas much more from the console users who they can throw any old tripe and and they'll still buy it.
