You're in luck ER will have item decay through use (no items will be immune for any reason ever unlike SWG and the retarded anti-decay kits they pumped into the game).  The specific of the rates is still unknown at this time though.

Full loot is the only way to go imo.

What are the games that you are talking about?
AoC DOESN'T have full loot..............FFA doesn't mean full loot, but free to kill who you like.

The only game with full loot I think of is UO, and it did good.........considering is a 2D game.
I really cannot think of a 3D MMO who implemented full loot (Lineage 2 had partial loot), so how do you know it is going to fail?
Look how many people are interested in Darkfall which has full loot, at least 100.000 people applied for Beta, which is a very good number indeed.

Just because you can't deal with losing your stuff, that doesn't mean everybody else can't.

If you don't like Full Loot, find yourself another game, I hope Earthrise devs won't listen whiners like you, because that's what can kill their game.

Geez it's full loot BUT with insurance. Just like EvE and UO in the later expansions (can't recall when it happened)

Eve doesn't have a full loot system and it also doesn't have more then 200k+ subscriptions even though its like, 5 years old.

FYI, Eve doesn't have safe zones, they have "safer" zones. All it takes is a war dec and thats gone aswell.

Full loot phrase alone is enough to gather PvPers imo.

Ok, I believe its time for the wall of text. So lets pick this apart shall we:

THE CAREBEAR COMPLAINT:

The Answer:

This is fairly simple really, Im almost insulted that it must be brought up but as many before have said this game is first off based on SKILL. Not level, not loot, SKILL. Losing gear may suck a bit but it wont make you helpless, infact gear will be easily replaced. Insurance is another way to combat the loss of said gear by allowing you to make it "bound" to you for a price. Now about "high level characters", if you know ANYTHING about this game the reason this is invalid is the simple fact the game doesnt have levels. The newby and the vet are going to do the same amount of damage with the same weapons in the most basic terms. In short: if you lose a shootout its your own damn fault.

"Why should I have to worry about getting ganked in open, unwatched, lawless territory?"

The Answer:

This should be fairly obvious. There are no police, no one to arrest or stop someone from killing you, so why should you be safe? Safety is a relative thing even in real life, you are only safe because people fear the reprocusions of their actions. Many say this creates a world were assholes will fester and gankers will be rampant, welcome to the real world son. Just like in reality the best defense is a good offense. Get your friends together, move in groups, always be aware of your surroundings and plan methods of escape. There are many ways you can proactively prevent your demise. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to fear ganking, its a game and sometimes you die, big deal.

THE CAREBEAR COMPLAINT:

"Full loot is stupid!"

The Answer:

No, its realistic. Most people arent going to kill for giggles in real life, they are after something. Money, weapons, armor, equipment, and in this case supplies. This is after the world as we knew it ended for crying out loud. People are going to be looking out for themselves, at any cost. Insure your gear, watch your back, and dont assume your safe ever. Its not that hard.

Also EVE had a very open pvp system and loot system, sure there are greifers but you have to learn to deal with them.
