Hahahaha!
On a more serious note, if Blizz continue to tweak engine, graphics, add new content, keep events alive, etc etc, I don't see why World of Warcraft ever has to end. People put artificial lifetime's on MMOGs, but the first successful MMORPG, UO, is still alive and kicking....
I can only speak for the EU servers but it seems like the game pop is more balanced Order vs Destro on a lot of the servers I've played on. The problem is that there are just not enough people overall.
Don't compare KotBS to the Blackguard: they are not mirrors of each other. It would make more sense to compare the IB to the Blackguard. There are issues with the Chosen from what people have told me about theirs, and the KotBS is the mirror of the Chosen. The thing to keep in mind though is that most people want to play Empire when they play Order, so having an Empire tank will probably help retain or even attract new players to Order.
"The dk class itself plays great. I'm ice spec and it's everything I've wanted from a melee class. I worry any time I play a plate class that can unload fast DPS but I'll just try to trust Blizzard to make the right decisions with balance."
Right decisions, or the decisions YOU want? Sounds like there is a difference there. In my opinion, a class with high defense shouldn't be able to out damage a class with low defense. Otherwise, what's the point of playing something like a Mage or Warlock?
"Well don't forget about the huge faction imbalance between Destruction and Order. When your game is structured between 2 factions and pvp you simply can't have a huge imbalace like WAR does. Anyone who has plays kows Destruction is the most played which steamrolls over order 90% of the time. The players get frustrated and start not participating in RVR."
No way! This is untrue. I've played both sides now on servers that have balanced overall populations on them. Both sides are actually fairly balanced with respect to each other, especially in oRvR. Scenarios are a different matter. Sometimes Order has the advantage about what kinds of units they can field in scenarios that make them OP and vice versa.
Last Friday, on the server I play as Destro, out of 7 scenarios, Destro outnumbered Order only in one. In every other case, Destro was outnumbered 1.5:1 sometimes 2:1. We only had equal numbers in oRvR that night.
I also disagree that scenarios are the best way to get xp and reknown. It's not consistant. For example, I had a slide show moment in one scenario, so I healed for only 9000
and did 2000 dps, but earned over 6000 reknown (didn't pay attention to xp). In another scenario, I healed for 29,000 and did 2000 dps but earned a measly 1500 reknown and the xp earned barely moved my bar. What was the difference? My side lost in the latter case. I was making better reknown in oRvR than I did while I was chaining scenarios.
Edit - I want to point out too that it depends not just on overall population brought into a particular fight, it depends on the units. I noticed that usually one side loses if not enough tanks or healers are brought or if the healers are dpsing or tanks are not playing well. Destro could outnumber Order 2:1 for example, but if the group consists mainly of Marauders and 1-2 healers, they will get smooshed pretty quickly if Order has a better spread of different classes. I find that healers really don't do well unless there are tanks around. My perpetual frustration is that the dps classes just don't care about killing enemies who are on healers but... it IS getting better slowly but surely.
I just got it yesterday and took my affliction lock into the new areas in Howling Fjord. It's pretty good. I like the area way more than TBC's areas. I think Blizz must have done something to tweak the graphics in that area because it's looks better than classic or TBC. I could be wrong. There were too many people at one point so I helped to run some normal lvl 60+ instances for my guildies who rerolled as DKs.
I am surprised at people saying that Blizz wouldn't release another expansion after this one. That makes 0 sense... this game has the potential to go on indefinitely as long as Blizzard releases content that people enjoy and as long as Blizzard continues to tweak graphics and engine. People still play older Blizzard releases, even ones that haven't aged as well as WoW. Both WoW and WAR have the potential to last a long time though I think WAR will always be more niche than WoW.
