so they are only announcing the merger of 1 server with another server?
I'm not being mean, but I was thinking they would be knocking it down to 8-10 servers in NA at the most, probably 6-8.
Cutting the number of servers in half is really not going to do much IMHO. You could literally merge the least 10 populated servers into 1 server and it still wouldn't be very populated.

I got a free copy of AoC with my new PC and I was signing up, but wondering, does it give the first month free?
Also, how is the game....the PvP, lvl grind, and all that
You have to provide CC information IIRC when you sign up to get the first free month though. Be sure to delete that information from the subscription page if you decide not to continue paying. Funcom has a nasty habit of ignoring the cancellations and rebilling anyone that still ahs CC info entered on the subs page, even if youve marked the account cancelled.
This is true of every game you get a free month with. Activate the account by entering your CC information, then immediately go to your account page and delete your CC information. If you like the game, in a month you can re-enter your information. Warhammer had the same problem of billing people early even though they had unsubscribed
Pros
1. Tome of Knowledge
2. oRvR (in theory)
3. Lore
Cons
1. Very clunky, non-responsive combat
2. oRvR never happened (trading keeps doesn't count as RvR)
3. Zone-locking mechanism (best way to keep someone from locking a zone is to not defend at all)
4. Lack of 'pvp with a purpose'. Who cares if the other realm wins everything. It really doesn't afffect you much.
I didn't really like the melee combat system, but the fatalities were fun.
What is your favorite of EVE's four major factions?
