They need to take a queue from SOE and lump their games into a pay-one-price-for-all subscription. Of all the MMOs I have played, AA and TR were two of the best non-conventional MMOs around. With an all access pass, NCSoft could have seen some of the Lineage or COX crowd to check these great niche games out.

IMO, when you are a niche game producer, you would benefit the most from an all access subscription. I'd still be playing AA and TR if I could have paid $30 a month to access all of NCSoft's offerings.

      MMOs should never die...

Where do people come up with this misinformation?  Unfinished?  What exactly is unfinished about VG?  The game plays well and has more content than most other MMOs out right now.  I can play multiple characters and have completely different experiences and quests if I want.

As to "maintenance mode" and "will probably not get better" -- the game has improved and continues to improve with every update.  Improvements include NEW content as well as bug fixes (IOD anyone, faction mounts and armor, faction system, character customization, massive optimizations, in game events, etc off the top of my head).  As to the small player base, I have zero problems finding a group when I want one and I see other people on all the time.  It's not WoW, but it's a long way from being a lonely dead place too.

Please try to do a little research before you just slam the game with wrong information.

Vanguard might not be the biggest MMO on the market, but in my opinion, it's one of the best out right now, and it deserves just as much space on these boards as any other.

AMEN! Vanguard is the most fun PvE game on the market. I wish Vanguard got more face time but I guess the real estate is better used for the kiddies' WoW stuff because after 4 years and one expansion I guess people are still discovering new things to talk about in WoW???

    • Is it just me or is WoW the only MMORPG where combat flows nicely?

the only games that have natural combat that flows with good timing are Dungeons and Dragons online and AOC, you decide the timing ; (there are some others with NON -autocombat but i havent played so i dont know)

In DDO and AOC , YOU decide when you hit , , you click mouse or keyboard and you swing sword or shoot arrow. YOU control your character and how it fights , in these games you can even dodge or block , thats real combat , immersive and exciting.

WOW and WAR and any other auto target auto combat mmo , just dont make sense at all , you dont  feel like you control your toon ,  not saying this games suck , cause i enjoyed wow in my days. and i like WAR more than WOW , but compared to other mmo s these 2 are so similar.

Once you enjoy the freedom of really fighting with yer toon (dodging , blocking ,trying to strike in the back )  its hard to get back to the WOW /WAr style, eating a sandwich while fighting a mob and clicking ability 1-10 in certain logical max output order.

THe next game i wil ltry that will have active tactical combat is Darkfall, this game seems to offer so many features it is mind boggling.

I quit ddo because of the combat. Whatever you did happened next round. So if yourolled an dodged, you wouldn't see it until the next move, in which you already knew what was going ot happen. This to me doesn't feel natural at all. It feels synthetic and unskillful.

I find Wildbeard completely right. Planning your moves in advance forces you to think ahead, much like a chess game or a martial arts contest. This feels more natural to me.

WOW combat (like most other MMOs out there) is stand still and make sure you have better gear than what you are fighting and you will win. Doesn't seem to require much skill for this.

This bothers me as well. The fast respawns are part of the design of a non-instanced dungeon so multiple groups can all find something to kill. The problem is if you play during a non-primetime hour, the dungeon may be underpopulated with players.

Another problem I had with the dungeons is when enemies kill someone they aggro on to anyone thats close. Several I died because someone was fighting enemy, enemies respawned on top of him, killed him, then the mob swarmed on to me.

This is actually the one thing that makes the most sense to me out of any game I've ever played. Realistically, having mobs attack anyone and anything they see who has invaded their space seems the way games should have been designed. What kind of boss mob (for example) is going to run past your group back to his throne room so he can stand on his pre-determined spawn location and reset? Mobs resetting is one of my pet peeves in MMOs because it makes the game not feel real to me.

The pegasus flying mount was also the most non-intuitive mount I have ever ridden in an MMO. I thought it would be like other MMOs where you just Jump to go into the air and start flying. Oh no. I had to move the camera up while moving(which meant I couldnt see anything) to start flying.

Just tap jump while you're moving... no need for fancy camera manouvres.

Walking down hills was odd too.

      I'm not sure how...?

Well, over all, I liked it. But I had to turn the graphics down almost all the way. I plan on getting a new computer by the end of the year and when I do I will subscribe to Vanguard.

Good for you. VG is definately the best game on the market. Hopefully the trial isle will get it a few more subs.
