Brenth ... chill out~!
As for the whole "you'll get PvP'd and ganked!", I've played for years as a casual player ... and never been ganked in safe space. Maybe because I actually did the tutorial all the way through...
I do like other games' new features prodding older games into making improvements and changes. WoW has had a lot of features added over the past year due to other games, which without others might never have found their way into the "to do" list rather than languishing on the "wish list". EVE has added a lot more people-capacity to its corporate structure, so assuming they can keep their US partnership venture throught the current fiscal crunch, I expect to see a real increase in their turn-around rate for implementation of ideas. Even if they started out as other people's ideas ![]()
Jumpingjax you should read up on the revised game-time system ... buying game time for ISK rather than US$ might be an ideal solution for you. I love that CCP is trying to enhance that aspect - too many games try to pretend real money trading doesn't exist or is "under control", rather than just putting in appropriate tools such that people who want to go (or need to go) that way can, in safety.
I love that EVE just keeps on getting better. Space MMO's are not for everyone, but there is so much flexibility in EVE that you can make your own fun, and we don't have to pay for improvements.
And no, you don't "get PvP'd straight away"; if you want to stay safe you can. I've lost one ship in over two years ... sure I'm not a PvP player in EVE but I still really enjoy my gametime. Of course, the no PvP thing is going to change ... after all, stealth bombers are not that good for missions ![]()
Ketrine has it in one. If you really want to play in the "open beta", go pre-order.
It really does not matter what the gcd is, as long as it really is global (yes, I think WoW got that wrong).
Obviously if it's really long then combat can feel too slow, too short and the fastest connection wins (or the best unauthorised add-on programme wins). It is exactly the sort of thing that is undoubtedly being tested in beta, and may change up or down.
Which November expansion were you most excited about?
