Absolutely true. The Ring is a full featured tool that allows players to build their own scenarios, even with multiple acts (that means different maps). Scenarios can be of any kind: from a simple Garden to a complex dungeon with quests. In example: something like the starting Island, Ruins of Silan, could be build by a creative player with that tool.

But, as many things from Nevrax, something is missed. At the moment: there is no way to setup a reward system for this kind of content and players can't get xp into scenarios (obviously, to avoid exploiting the leveling); you can't put packers and mounts into scenarios, even just for scenery; quest items are not related to the real world and will disappear once you exit the scenario; scenario must be attended by the owner (both kind, mastered and masterless), so you can't do anything else while running it.

Anyway, players managed to setup prizes outside the scenarios, but this means that the whole thing is managed more as events than a real addition to the world (that was promised by nevrax at the time).

With the ability to build complex dialogs with emotes, you could build a theatrical scenario.

Last thing: the quantity of choices in the editor is directly linked with the 'knowledge' of the planet, that means: you will have few choices at beginning and more stuff will be available the more you explore Atys. Specifically, the knowledge is linked with the number of respawn points the character got.

EDIT: forgot to mention that the RIng scenarios are cross servers, that means you can meet people from other servers and everyone can participate.

Yeah Eve's community is like a bunch of soccer thugs. It's rough.

Believe me If I could find a Sandox game with all the features of Eve with the community of ryzom I would pay for a liftime subscription.

Unfortunately, that's impossible: it is the game that makes a community and not the contrary.

Either you have not tried LOTRO or you are lying.

If you speak technicallly, Lotro has more realistic graphic and looks good. But graphic is not just 'realism'.

I played Lotro with big hope, because of Tolkien mainly, and i found myself really disappointed. The Middle Earth is very cold, there is no soul in the Lotro graphics. And, considering the difference in technology between 2004 and 2007, Ryzom is by far much better than Lotro. The world is alive in Ryzom, in Lotro is just a series  of obvious postcards. A good game need not only good graphics, it needs a 'style' and Ryzom has a style, Lotro not. You can easy confuse a Lotro screenshot with a Vanguard one, in example. When you see a Ryzom screen, you immediately recognize it.

What it's true is that Lotro has good graphics implementation, very polished. I think it is a good game for people new to the MMO genre and probably for people that loves rp, it's a bit banal tho, despite of his realistic water, for old time players.

Ryzom is special, even with his 2004-directX8 graphics.

At the end, if I have to compare water implementation in different games, then the best water I've ever seen is in Myst Online (no surprise as Myst series had always a very high standard graphic).

    • Sad to read this and I hope you find your fun somewhere else.

But you forgot that Ryzom is actually in a testing phase and we all are waiting for the new team going to start doing things.

You are right, Ryzom needs more features and more options, but the devs are working to relaunch the game so they need time as they stated in their posts.

I hope, as everyone in game, they can improve the game and add what is needed to make it what it can be.

You are not asking too much, maybe you are only asking too fast for a game saved from death few time ago.

Hope to see you in a near future.
