Now most of us know, the numbers advantage is a big deal in say... World RvR. All the time you look at what keeps your side owns, and if you are order it can be pretty depressing.
However, right now most of the fighting going on is in even numbered scenarios. So why are forums still filled with "order sucks" topics?
Tanks. Its all about tanks. In a small map, where there is constant fighting and every second counts, tanks drive the fight. Look at 90% of the fights you are in, destrucion will have LOADS of tanks, and order will be lucky to have more than 2.
This is not because some tanks are better than others, it's because destruction tanks are far more appealing. No one likes dwarfs.... ok, a few people do. but look at dwarves in other games, they tend to be one of the least played races. so one of order's tanks is underplayed despite it being a very solid class. the Ironbreaker is strong, both sides agree its a powerful class but I rarely see more than 2, 3 if i'm very lucky but most of the time I get 1 in a 2 group warband.
The only saving grace for order is that their other tank is an elf. people seem to love elves, they are the ying to the dwarven yang. but the swordmaster is still an unpopular class, and when people do play it, they tend to use a 2hander, legit, but just not as effective as a 1hander with a shield.
Now this wouldn't be a problem if destruction was also short on tanks, but they aren't. the chosen is incredibly popular, which just baffles me. The class mechanic never interested me, they have nice armor but are otherwise not very interesting, yet people LOVE them. the chosen is a solid tank, though you'll see a lot using 2handers. you'll see more chosen in tor anroc than swordmasters and ironbreakers combined.
But the problem comes with Black orcs. they are AMAZING, and everyone knows it. they make up more than half of all greenskins (partially because squig herders are a bit broken, but thats another issue) but they don't mind! They are overflowing with personality, incredibly powerful, and look great to boot.
How can we fix this problem? Black orcs are gods, Chosen are magically popular, and even the blackguard has a following. When the KotBS hits live servers, order will see a LARGE boon, as it seems to have a lot more personality than either of the other 2 order tanks, but it still may not be enough to offset the zerg of black orcs.
So please order, make a tank alt, and USE GUARD. see if you like it, give it a chance. throw away your shadow warrior or bright wizard and make a tank. If you want to win, make a tank. Sure, someday we may have too many tanks, but right now we simply lack them, and thats what is causing a large number of losses.

The red text above is exactly what I mean. In each tier, players get new armor sets with slightly upgraded graphics than the previous tier, but ALL armor in your tier looks basically the same. Armor dye provides at least something to set you apart from other players playing the same class, but it's not enough.
You are right, but some of us like that. I always look like an archmage on my archmage. my armor changes here and there, but I look like my class.
In WoW, everyone looks terribly crazy untill level cap, at which point everyone gets wellfare epics and looks exactly the same. every warrior looks like a robot, every lock looks like a crazy horned person, every priest looks pretty darn good, but they all look the same, because EVERYONE gets the same gear in WoW at endgame.
inspect people who are right at 70, they are in full PvP epics (a few raiders around there in PVE epics) slowly replacing them with wrath greens/blues. once they hit 80 they'll be back in welfare epics and they'll all look the same again.
Every deathknight looks the same, exactly, and most tend to hold on to their starting armor till near 70... exactly the same.
So while my archmage will always look like an archmage, and a lot like every other archmage. my priest has always looked like a priest, and looks exactly like every other priest whenever we sit at level cap for awhile.
Healing. Healing in WAR is just years ahead of healing in WoW. I recently went back to WoW after playing my archmage on WAR. PvP healing is a joke, if you play carefully you'll end up OOM pretty quick because you aren't dying. if you don't play carefully you won't use any mana because you'll be stunlocked/silenced/feared from 100-0.
the exception to this is of course the pally, but even they can only avoid being useless every few min with their cooldowns. walk out of your base in WSG and the entire other team will see that you are a healer, and ignore everything else to kill you. the only way to avoid focus fire from half the enemy team is with a bubble (and hope they don't have a shadow priests there waiting with mass dispell)
Healing in PvP in WAR is wonderful. there is no "OOM" so you never become useless, you just have to take it easy for a few seconds. nothing worse than being stuck in combat with no mana as a healer and just... wanding, or trying to shift to catform in resto gear.
Healing is decently powerful in WAR, and while running headfirst into the fight WILL get you killed similar to how you get killed in WOW, being careful will reward you with big healing numbers at the end of the day.
I'm going to play Wrath, I'm enjoying it right now. But I'm never going to give up WAR because deep down I'm a HEALER, and in WAR I never feel useless.
Lock, Pally, Priest, Druid, Warlock.
Archmage.

You choose your playing style and get rewarded. The old ever redoing raiding grind of old Wow has gone.
WoW is still the same gear/rep grindfest it has always been. however every new patch brings wonderful changes. my most recent return saw PvP marks no longer taking up inventory space (hooray) and now mounts and pets don't either.
If you never played BC then you'll be in for a lot of fun leveling up.. sort of. BC had some really nice instanced content, with the grind for heroic keys reduced (and useless, because no one will be running heroic pugs with Wrath content to move on to)
and so after the 60-70 content which is actually pretty quick, you'll still have the new 70-80 content. once you hit 80 I suggest you hit up every instance and then quit again. If you didn't like the grind of old WoW, you won't like the grind of new WoW. the raids are down from 40mans, and now you get tokens to turn in for gear, so you don't get stuck with drops for the same class over and over (for tier gear anyway).
but most of the good gear you see will be from rep grinds and instance grinds, and arena grinds. thats not to say you won't enjoy the 70-80 content, so far it seems well done, though I haven't tried it horde side yet so I can't speak for their quests.
overall its some nice new content, and I'm sure you'll get some enjoyment out of it. but don't expect WoW to have changed deep down. the game keeps getting better, but at its core, WoW is still WoW. despite what some rabid fans will say.

So where are all the Aion haters? Oh ya thats right from the sounds of things everything is going great for NCsoft Except for the fact that they are bogged down with an unexpected 150K people trying to get in OB. Not much to hate on.
hate to say it but OB numbers don't mean much, NCsoft showed that with their NA launch of L2. every time they'd open a new server it would be so incredibly packed that you couldn't get into it (no ques) and they'd open another.
then when the game went live, bartz and sieg were full... all the others turned to ghost towns. most people see betas as free trials, lots of people are willing to not pay for a game.
but to be serious, how did the game compare to L2? my only 2 problems with L2 were the grind and the horrible PvP balance. i've they've improved that a bit i'd really like to give Aion a try... and buffs, if buffs aren't pretty much required... but we didn't learn that right away in L2 so i doubt you'd know about that.

yup buddy i don't believe in the steriotypes even though the majority of them are true especially for WoW. I play wow but i wouldnt skip school/work just to play and expansion.
i'd skip work to... not play an expansion. who doesn't want to skip work/school? Who even needs a reason to do it? sheesh some people really just like to insult others over the internet.
Which console would you like to see MMOs released for?
