What features does it offer that make it worth play ing over a free game? An FPS is an FPS, is it not?
Also (I'm only interested in playing Infantry) I read that you need to be rank 3 to be one of the SMG guys, how long does that take? Single shot rifles are a snooze!
Are there population concerns? I read some conflicting info on this.
Thanks for any info!
Whilst this game is FPS for infantry it's also a sim for the vehicles. It gets updated a couple times a year with new features and gear. It's set in a half or third (can't remember) scale map of NW Europe so you can fly from the UK to Germany if you want, no zones, just one massive continuous map. View range goes out to a few kilometers so you can use an 88 for example to kill enemy tanks with 1500m on the range dial. It's the only game I've played were you need to set the range on your iron sights to shoot accurately at long range. Prime time US pop is usually fine, prime time Aussie isn't that hot but there's always some fighting going on.
There's a free trail IIRC so download the client and give it a try. It ain't as pretty as the new stuff but it the gameplay that keeps me, plus it a very hard game, you will die a lot. As someone mentioned patience is the key. Be sure to use the help channel to get assistance, a common complaint from new players is the near vertical learn curve.
