...and so goes the merry-go-round ride known as the development of DarkFall.
For those that are new to this ride it goes like this:
The DarkFall Devs announce some new stage in the development of DarkFall... this time it was BOTH Open Beta (ending by the begginng of Dec.) and Release! (2008)
Then a group of people hype up those newly given stages and remind us that DarkFall is indeed coming soon.
Then a second group of people remind the first group that we've not only been on this ride before, but that it doesn't end like they think it will.
Then the first group gets a bit indignant that the second group would question the word of the Devs, as they've never lied in the past.
The second group sighs and says "Yeah we know... but again it doesn't end like you think it will".
Then after some passage of time another new stage is announced.
The first group rejoices at this new stage of development and re-affirms their indignation of the second group.
The second group merely sighs and points to the ride... which is still moving.
Now you too know the ride known as the development of DarkFall.

The one thing that brings us together: we are all hoping the ride will stop soon. Someone is gonna hurl.

Shaar is merely a fan as far as I know; he is not Aventurine staff.
Shaar is retired Aventurine Community Staff. You can expect he got the info directly from devs and you can expect he got the best answer at the time. Of course, he could have misunderstood, I just doubt it.
Tasos already back-pedaled from the start of December to "early December" here -
http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=77544
The start of December says "Dec 1", or maybe the first few days, to me. Early December I see as covering more time, even up to the 15th. As usual, Aventurine prefers the term with the most wiggle room.
I dont think we are likely to see the couple weeks of open beta that Aventurine said we would. At this rate, we would be fortunate to see a couple days...unless they do the unthinkable and delay release. I believe they will do another version of unthinkable, and just drop the game on us with minimal public testing.

Huge fault here..
Everyone knows that Tasos has been full of crap.. I don't see what the point of this paragraph proves..
I was just curious to know if anyone had actual dates.. which.. from the looks of it.. no one does have..
If they did, I would not have to keep posting quotes.
No one has a date for end of beta. Shaar reported it would end at "the start of December" but Tasos later said it would end in "early December". That is all that is known about beta time-frames.

how about being to optimistic why is every other company allowed to miss release dates and this one not?
Other companies don't miss a release date by 6 years
razorwax missed the fiorst 1 then the went and redid everything nto sure how much the had to scratch but its tech a diffrent game
Aventurine was in control by late 2002, so how could delaying the 2003 release be blamed on Razorwax? Besides, lets cut the crap - Aventurine and Razorwax were the same devs, the only difference was in management and funding. Same core devs, making the same core game.
Further, other companies dont say stuff like this:
4/11/08 Tasos: "Based on the above, it's conceivable that we may be further along in development than several games in beta, or with announced release dates. So why don't we announce a date already? It's because there's no way we'll miss a release date and we're not going to just set a date as a goal, and either postpone or be forced to release something unfinished. We resolve to stick with our release date because we know how people tend to plan around this as far as organization, time and hardware goes when they're looking to make a commitment to an MMORPG, especially a competitive one like Darkfall."
So, if they want us to believe the things they tell us, they have to walk their talk. They said the game WILL release within 2008. We have heard how the game has been feature complete for about a year, and under test by "professionals" not just "random people who want to play the game for free". We have been hearing how Aventurine does things differently than other dev teams, and living it these many years, so we should expect something different. That means a complete game, released on time.
