For me to follow a game it first has to have IP that I'm interested in. There's nothing in the Darkfall IP that remotely interests me. It's just a generic fantasy world.
That being said, I will follow a game that has IP of interest until it's released but I do not buy into the hype or make any judgements for or against it before launch. If it still looks interesting at launch I will pick it up and try it for 30 days. If I don't like it I won't subscribe.
Recent example: Age of Conan. I grew up reading the Conan stories written by Howard, Lin Carter, de Camp, and others. Followed the game casually, didn't buy into the hype. Tried it. It sucked. I don't have time to obsess about a game before launch or lament after I don't like it. I just move on....
Turbine. Great developer who listens to its subscribers and does this with little fanfare and drama. They just get stuff done, and they do it very well. They also provide content/expansions quicker than every 2 years. LOL!
But we already know who will win purely because of volume and fanboi'ism.
It's just comical that someone can call it a "shit game" and they haven't even played it.
Opinions are fine, but extrapolating that far and calling it shit when all you've seen are some screenshots and a couple movies is laughable and makes you come across sounding like a bitter kid. ![]()

Merging is the definition of failure.
Completely wrong. Merges are a good thing.
People leaving a game after trying it out at launch is normal. And especially as AoC has about 50 servers (25 US and 25 Euro), this is way too much.
Merging when it needs to be done and acting fast on it is the signs of good management. I.ex: look at WAR, they merged after the 1st month.
The sign of failure is what Funcom did (other games like Vanguard did the same mistakes). Instead of merging as soon as possible when it was needed they have waited 5 months.... so we had 5 months of subpar gameplay due to the lack of players on the servers.
It's a good thing for the players, but a clearly negative thing for the game and for Funcom.
If you want different and complex give EVE a try. I'll stand back and watch while your brain esplodes. ![]()
That being said, LOTRO is the only game that has held my interest in the past 1.5 year...but that's because I love me a good story driven game, and not one driven by gear or ganking.
And if you think Darkfall will be your mmo saviour....sheesh. Be prepared for uber disappointment.![]()
