I think they ban for 3 days for stuff like that. Which is reasonable IMO. They perma ban hackers, cheaters, goldsellers and anyone who blatantly disregards the rules and the warnings and negatively affect other people's gameplay.
I would not want to play in a group or even on the same server with goldfarmers, hackers, spammers or people who disrespect others.
Well like I said..it isn't perma ...it's two weeks, I could see a three day or even a week, but two? I just don't think the punishment fits the crime.

Unfortunately, i believe that warning comes in the form of the EULA/TOS you scroll down and click agree to anytime they do a new patch. Who reads it? I know i don't, but thats the defense Blizzard has.
I know...it kind of puts us in a bind though as we are really healer light right now, and had several runs planned. I also have other guildies saying we so do somthing as well because what they did has really hurt the entire guild
So any Guild Leaders out there Question in this situation do you take action against the players as well? Considering their vital role in upcoming Raids or do you just regroup and move on?

The things you're referring to happened long before the Activision merger. Blizzard just happens to be in the position where they don't need to coddle asshats to keep their subscription numbers up. The crackdown is long overdue. Banning people from forums is a execise in futility. Banning people from a game gets their attention.
Zymurgeist dude..I have always respected your vewipoint on things...but honestly do you really think what I described qualifies my guildies as Asshats? All I'm saying is a nice policy update notice could have saved a lot of this, I'm sure if a lot of folks got a hey guys...we have decided to start doing this, a lot of the stuff would have never hapend in the first place.
....I'm just saying

ya i just hope they dont pull a soe and start banning ppl like mad. they can take a hit in numbers but one day when their numbers start dropping and the game dies they might wish they had treated the paying customers a little better. not that im not saying their doing a bad job now all the stuff i have bought from blizzard has been well made and i have had no reason to bash them, but now that their a bigger company they might start acting like it then we'll end up with another EA
I'm just concerned that a lot of the LOL moments that we have all had on the forums and in game are gone..... Really I could see this happen if my guys linked to porn or said somthing racist...but one called a guy a Fing Idiot and bypassed the profanity filter so he could read it and the other basically did a Rickroll...now they can't play the game for two weeks. I'm sorry that's harsh. that is SOE harsh.

The forums and the game are actually covered by the same set of rules (altho obviously you most likely won't see people running 3rd party programs to post faster... ).
Legal?
The consumer has the option to do a charge back and not pay. Then of course the account will be banned. However, it is an option as a consumer.
The boards are private and belong to blizzard just as the game servers. When you add:
"they got a message that they had too many warnings/Suspensions on the forums and the latest suspension included an inability to log in to the game while suspended from the forums."
So obviously this isn't an issue they just developed. They have an ongoing history of violating the forum rules...
Maybe they should have stopped after a few warnings and/or suspensions?
I mean one has to *ponder* wtf the problem is exactly... it doesn't seem to be on Blizzard's end.
Yeah I know they should have stopped, but Blizzard has a history of letting Trolling on the forums slide... it just seems to to be the further Homogenizing of Blizzard, WoW has gotten easy cheesy..anything slightly offensve is quickly removed SC2 and D III has these bright cheery graphics. I may be wrong but it looks to me like Craptivision is calling all the shots now, and Blizzard that we knew is long gone.
