Aventurine the Darkfall development team stormed the MMO world yesterday with both a beta signup and a 18 minute video available at www.darkfallonline.com.
The Darkfall community in general has been terribly excited to see this game finally come to fruition and also to see a confirmed release date of 2008.
However, there have been some complaints about the animations, low rez spells, and general graphical quality. I wanted to address some of those concerns.
In regards to animation quality, I believe this is the only concern that is valid. The run animations are poor and the building and ship destruction is lacking. However, I believe that this is because of a reason (performance) that I will address in my next two statements.
Regarding low resolution spells that look like bolts or balls of light. Player need to understand how revolutionary Darkfall truly is. These are not auto targeted spells. We won't ever see "Fire from the Heavens" or "lightening from the Sky" the way that people expect to see spell casting in an MMO. The reason being is that in Darkfall everything is First Person Shooter with regards to the combat system. The spells have to be able to be dodged by that players. Additionally, the lower resolution quality of the spells will allow combat with hundreds of players to not bog down our systems. Darkfall cannot look like Age of Conan and fulfill it's primary purpose as a siege based pvp game.
Graphical quality. How much fun is it to log into a game and have to turn down the graphics? Doesn't that break your immersion right away? Who cares if Age of Conan has these unbelievable graphics. Just like Vanguard no one but those with 10,000 dollar systems can run Age of Conan in a mass battle on high graphics. Graphics should be good enough so that they don't break your immersion, poor enough so that they don't break your performance. Darkfall achieves this.
Full loot, Free unrestricted PVP, All player crafted items, farming, player housing, player cities, resource control points, FPS type combat.
No other game has to offer what Darkfall does.
I am truly shocked that Mcpoopy or whatever hasn't posted any screenshots, video, or anything yet!
I mean given he is IN beta how hard could it be?

History
Formed in 2002 as an America’s Army clan, IMAGE has several remaining original members backed by a core that has been together three plus years. Our first venture into MMO’s was the PvP-centred game Shadowbane, a game in which we honed our ability to use tactics and voice chat coordination to defeat our enemies. Though we have played in many other MMO’s, none have allowed us to focus on PvP and conquest like Shadowbane did and like we hope Darkfall will. We have been waiting for Darkfall 3+ years now, and with the epic failure of Age of Conan our time lately has been spent waiting and occasionally playing the Half-Life 2 mod Age of Chivalry against many others in the Darkfall community. We are moving to WAR while we continue to wait for Darkfall.
Clan Structure
IMAGE clan has a small centralized leadership with an advisory council. After showing a long-term commitment to the clan, you may be able to join the advisory council. We are actively recruiting all types of players from crafters to PvPers, though everyone will be expected to fight during a war.
Our guild currently has 50+ members actively waiting for Darkfall, and due to renewed interest in the game, recent recruitment efforts, and an influx of new recruits we expect to have 100+ members by the time of the game’s release.
We expect to have 50+ members playing WAR by the end of the weekend.
Recruitment
There are three basic qualifications for membership in IMAGE:
1. In order to be accepted into IMAGE clan, you must be 16 years or older (though exceptions might be granted if you're exceptional).
2. You must have Ventrilo or be willing to download and use it.
3. You must not be in any other guild.
Keep in mind that you will have a two week to one month recruiting period and that your long-term membership will be up to a vote by the advisory council. Typically all that we’re looking for is commitment to the guild and the ability to both play well and not be a douchebag.

Darkfall is very hardcore with complex gameplay, free for all full loot.
And it looks much much better then warhammer watch new movie!!!!!
Its 100% sandbox
Warhammer=themepark with casual pvp for the mass, cartoony's and mediocre grafics.
This, plus Darkfall is skill based both with regards to no classes and also that combat is first person shooter like.
Also it has true sieging, not over NPC type cities, but your own cities that you have worked hard to build. Player Housing. Crop growing. Intricate player crafting. Total control over your characters path.

There isn't another game with these kinds of features on the Market. Darkfall is although a niche game going to be highly enjoyable for many people.

We have been waiting for Darkfall 3+ years now, and are currently playing many games including Age of Chivalry, WAR and such.
