Madcatz Reveal A New Multi Platform Controller and Mousepad

C.A.T. 9 wireless controller

Madcatz, the gaming brand with some of the industry’s most memorable mice, has just announced two new accessories, the C.A.T. 9 wireless controller and the S.U.R.F. RGB mousepad.

In something of an unusual pairing, the company that leans into angular designs has just announced a new controller full of ergonomic edges, alongside a gaming surface for smooth gameplay. The C.A.T. 9 wireless controller is an RGB fuelled multi platform gaming device that is crafted to follow you wherever you game. Designed to plug into Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS platforms, the new controller comes with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and a welcome USB-C cabled option. At 200g it still manages to pack in a plethora of RGB LEDs, a 6-axis motion sensor, and dual vibration motors. Along the rear of the device, there are also additional buttons and up to 4 customized macro profiles that can be changed on the fly—even in the heat of battle. You’ll notice that there isn’t any official support for Xbox or PlayStation in the specifications, so you’ll need to look elsewhere for audio pass through and console support.

For those of you who’ve had a R.A.T. mouse for some time, there’s a matching gaming surface on the horizon, with the S.U.R.F. RGB mousepad. While it seems oddly named, this new addition to the PC gaming portfolio of Mad Catz features precision-enhancing fabric that is optimally suited for sensor accuracy. It comes with a 2-zone RGB lighting strip around the edge, and measures 900 x 300 x 4mm.

You can check out the official website for regional availability, but based on the bizarre trailer, you might want to turn the heating up. No, we still have no idea why everyone using the C.A.T. 9 ends up without clothes either.
