Lord Of The Rings: Gollum Gets A September 2022 Release Date

Daedalic Entertainment just announced the PC and console release date for sneaky little stealth adventure, Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

Due to arrive PC, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S on 1 September 2022, Gollum is a stealth action adventure that brings us back to a world of myth and legend to explore the world of the one ring long before some filthy little hobbitses got their hands on the precious. The new take on one of Tolkien’s most iconic characters gives fans of this franchise more time to explore Middle-earth and get to know both sides of this creature.

Set somewhere during The Fellowship of the Ring, the title puts players in control of the aforementioned icon. New ringless, Gollum must make a perilous journey that departs the Misty Mountains, wanders into the depths of the Barad-dûr dungeons and into the realm of the Wood-elves in Mirkwood. This isn’t a simple march of the Ents. Instead, Gollum will need to use all its cunning and guile to overcome the dangers that await. This is compounded by the creature’s other self, Sméagol. It will be up to players to decide if Gollum or Sméagol should take the lead in this quest, without getting both personalities lost, gutted, or generally devoured.

The news of a date for this interesting new title also comes with a trailer, giving us a greater glimpse at the in game protagonist. Aside for the gorgeous and utterly foreboding backdrops, it’s clear that Daedalic is out to recreate the Gollum portrayed by Andy Serkis in the most recent celluloid outing for the franchise. While we wait, there is still plenty of time to explore Middle-earth in Lord of the Rings Online, or just take a very long read of the official Steam Store Page to fid out more abut this enigmatic character.
