Summon Night 6 is the 6th game in the Summon Night series if you can not tell from the title. I’ve always wanted to play a game in this series because the characters and art always looked amazing to me and as a young artist that was enough to draw me into a game back in its infancy. Summon Night 6 comes out on October 31, 2017 (today!) for the PS4, a tactical JRPG that’s got more than its fair share of fans. If you’ve played the series and are a fan of it you may be about to have a good time. This is our Summon Night 6 review.

In Summon Night 6 you play as the main character Raj who lives in a world where objects fall from the sky. Not only do object fall from the sky but he is the only human in that world. Why is he the only human? Why is everything, and I do mean everything, falling from the sky? You’ll have to find that out on when it releases, but I will give you a little insight into what you can expect.

Tactics, I love them and Summon Night 6 has a great tactical combat system. Place your units in positions that best fit the situation. You will also be able to craft accessories and items to help you along the way. If you have ever played games like Hyperdimension Neptunia, you’ll understand what I mean when I say that in Summon Night 6 you will find a lot of elements akin to visual novel games.

Summon Night 6 review

There is an overall map to select battles from and events where you can speak to your comrades. Some of these events will provide background info while others may be needed to progress the main story. Prepare to see some familiar faces while exploring a new world.

Gaijinworks’ latest game isn’t the big AAA JRPG like Final Fantasy. It’s more intimate, along the lines of Disgaea, and some might say it deserves the same following as that popular series. While Summon Night 6 is an overall good game, it also doesn’t do quite enough to differentiate itself from the crop of tactical RPGs already available on PS4 and PS Vita.
