Monster Hunter World Ready for a Second Beta on PS4

Monster Hunter World BG

Time to pick up the sword, lance or whatever else you fancy, and hunt some enormous monsters again!

For those who missed out on the first Monster Hunter World beta last December 9 to 12, it’s your lucky day! Capcom has officially announced the date and time of the second beta test which will start from December 22, 9 AM PT (5 PM GMT) and end on December 26 with the same hours, running for a total of 4 days.

This time around, PS Plus will not be required in order to download the game, but it’s presumed, though unconfirmed, that you will still need the subscription in order to play online and for those who still have the first beta client installed on their Playstation 4, don’t delete it! You can re-use it for the second beta, as Capcom has confirmed that there will be no changes made to the client.

If you missed out on downloading the client during the initial beta, you can pre-load it starting December 18, giving you a leeway of 4 days before the server opening; great news for those with slower internet speeds.

Capcom has not confirmed if there will be any additional content included in the second beta, but they did include information on free DLCs for the game, including an exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn cross-over pack for the PS4 and a free Mega Man themed skin for your companion, which will be released on all available platforms. Don’t be fooled though, these DLC are just the beginning and Capcom has promised to continue to support Monster Hunter World with more post-release updates in the form of additional monsters, though specific times and monster types have not been revealed.

Monster Hunter World is the first cross-platform release of the well acclaimed Monster Hunter franchise, which originally, was only released on handheld consoles like the PSP and the 3DS. The original beta has garnered some very positive feedbacks, praising the game’s dynamic combat and interactive world, where the elements can both work for and against you.

Monster Hunter World will be released on the PS4 and Xbox One on January 26, 2018. Unfortunately, there’s still no word of a beta test for the Xbox and the PC, which is completely understandable for the latter, considering there’s no official release date for it yet.
