Atlus has confirmed that they will be releasing a remake of Catherine, dubbed as Catherine: Full body. The new version will include an online battle feature, support for cross-saving and an all-new character named “Rin.”

The remake will contain additional contents: new endings, a new ending song, a lot more anime cutscenes, new episodes and new gameplay elements, one of which is a new mechanic that requires you to move a series of linked boxes. Brand-new features have also been added; the most notable being the change on difficulty settings, which can now be increased or decreased depending on whether you want a challenge or you’re just here for the story.

New information has been released on Rin, who’s confirmed to be a third “Catherine.” Voiced by the popular singer and voice actress, Aya Hirano, most recognized for her role as Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and her performance of God Knows from the same anime. Rin’s association with Vincent, the protagonist, has also been confirmed in that she works as a pianist at the bar Vincent frequents. Her personality is described as calm and straightforward, which kind of sits in between Catherine and Katherine.

There’s not much information about the game at this point, which is understandable considering it’s only 50% complete at the moment. On the bright side, Atlus has promised to release more information on December 22nd at 7:30 PM (GMT+9) or 10:30 AM (GMT+1).

For those that are interested in the live stream on December 22, you can check it out on this link: http://live.nicovideo.jp/gate/lv309421922.

There’s also an official page for Catherine: Full body, which you can find here: https://fullbody.jp/ though there isn’t much information on it yet.

No release date has been announced at present, but it’s expected to be some time in 2018. Atlus has not given any mention of possible Xbox One or Nintendo Switch versions, though they also haven’t announced this as a PlayStation exclusive, which means we may still get a release on other platforms.

Catherine, which was originally released in 2012 for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, is one of Atlus’s newest titles. Originally it was created in order to test the capabilities of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before the development of the next Persona, but it would turn into an unexpectedly success; claiming major positive reviews and becoming critically acclaimed for being an intense, personal, but enjoyable experience.
