New Video Game Hall of Famers

Have you ever wondered what do video game Hall of Famers and online slot games have in common? Well, some of these video games have made the transition from your PC or gaming console to one of the many gambling (both casino and bingo) websites. With the World Video Game Hall of Fame, housed at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, announcing the 2019 inductees, we decided to take a look at three of the most popular video games that can be found as a slot game too. These games are not necessarily part of the Hall of Fame, yet!

For the record, this year’s inductees included Super Mario Kart, Colossal Cave Adventure, Mortal Kombat and Microsoft Solitaire. Other games that missed out this time around included the likes of Candy Crush, Call of Duty, King’s Quest, Minecraft and Ms. Pac-Man.

HITMAN

This popular game that follows the adventures of a cold-blooded assassin, aka Agent 47, was developed by the Danish company IO Interactive. The first release was in 2000 with Hitman: Codename 47 and the last release was in 2018 with HITMAN 2. The main series consists of at least another five games while there are a handful of side games. Microgaming, one of the most established game developers in the iGaming niche took notice of the popularity and it wasn’t long before they released the online slot game in 2007. The constant evolution of this game and the different reiterations of it over the years, have kept it in the limelight, and we believe it’s only a matter of time before this agent make makes its way into the Hall of Fame.

TOMB RAIDER

One of the most recognizable names in the gaming world, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, received extra attention when Angelina Jolie played the title character in the 2001 movie. So, it’s no surprise to see that this game, originally developed by Core Design in 1996, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018. Its longevity is very impressive, and this was highlighted when Bingo Find announced earlier this year that Microgaming, Triple Edge Studios and Square Enix (the current video game developer) are hard at work creating the third installment of this slot game. While no one is commenting, most industry insiders expect this release to be based on the most recent 2018 movie starring Alicia Vikander.

HELLBOY

Don’t hold your breath for another video game, movie or even a slot game for that matter with this misunderstood comic book character. Furthermore, you shouldn’t expect to see Hellboy making his way to the Hall of Fame. The first game was released by Cryo Interactive back in 2000 and then Hellboy: The Science of Evil was released by Konami in 2008. The Microgaming slot was released in 2010 but just like the games, it failed to ignite or catch the attention of gamers for a number of reasons.

Don’t forget that if you want to see your favourite game inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2020, all you have to do is nominate it through the World Video Game Hall of Fame website. It needs to meet certain criteria and you must explain why you feel it deserves a place in the pantheon of games.
