Head back to a pivotal moment in Tyrian history as Guild Wars 2 Living World Season 1 launches The Battle for Lion’s Arch today.
ArenaNet rounds off the replay of Guild Wars 2 Living World Season 1 today with the launch of one last chapter. Following on from the Tower of Nightmares, the Battle for Lion’s Arch marks the closing segment of this remastered storyline, and an opportunity for players to jump in and experience a desperate struggle for the central city of this MMORPG.
Originally released back in 2014, Episode 5 of this Living World anthology ties up the Season 1 storyline with an epic encounter that puts the iconic city of Lion’s Arch firmly on the line. While new players might not recognise the streets in its old splendour, veteran Commanders will be able to face off against a daring attack by Scarlet’s forces and try to liberate this location from mechanical minions and an array of Aetherblades. The finale of Season 1 includes reworked story missions, giving everyone an opportunity to see the start of the end up close, while the massive scale of this event is evident in a repeatable instanced group encounter. Tyrians will be able to relive a final stand for the city as part of a 50 person public instance or private squad and fight the good fight.
A new strike mission, a challenging 10-player encounter against three of Scarlet’s elite Assault Knights in the streets of the city also awaits. Experienced players can even expect new voice lines and extra lore in game. Loot also includes new ways to show off, with the Lion’s Champion weapon set, the Lion Captain’s cape and shoulder mantles, and the Breachmaker Micro Mk5 mace.
For anybody yet to experience Scarlet’s audacious attack first hand, this triumphant moment has long held in my memory for several key moments, the Heal-o-Tron, and it will explain why Mai Trin’s Heroic Spirit was such a big deal when we chased down this Revenant during the End of Dragons expansion. If you’ve managed to put down Dragonflight for a moment and just back on your Griffon, you can experience the Battle For Lion’s Arch for free, or download the core Guild Wars experience for no cash down over on the official Guild Wars 2 website now.
