Nintendo pulled one out of the hat yesterday with the surprise announcement of the new 2DS XL. According to Nintendo, the new hand-held device fits between the 2DS and the 3DS XL. It will cost about $150.

2DS XL Features & Games

When the new system launches on July 28th, players will be able to check out a pair of games:

  • Hey! PIKMIN – a new iteration of the Pikmin series. Players go on a side-scrolling adventure to help Sparklium escape. With battles to fight and puzzles to solve, this is a great way to put the 2DL XL through its paces.
  • Miitopia – Mii and Mii friends get to explore their own special spaces within the world of Miitopia. Putting characters into roles to “watch hilarious scenes” as players work to defeat the Dark Lord. The best part is that players can bring their own Miitomo or Tomodachi Life game characters into the game.

In addition, the new DS will be able to play all of the games in the massive 3DS game library.
