3D Realms teased an upcoming new game over the holidays and it looks like the internet already knows the name of this upcoming FPS.

While the rest of us were preparing to get appropriately sozzled at the turn of the year, 3D Realms took to Twitter to tease a brand new title. In a post over on the social media site, the team behind the Duke Nukem 3D and the original 2006 Prey confirmed it is about to unleash a new monster on the gaming world. This came with a snippet of what we can assume is gameplay, taking a first-person perspective on a room that doesn’t go well for the person behind the camera. While 3D Realms isn’t likely to comment any further until the advertise February 2022 date, the internet seems to have already sussed out what’s coming.

While it might just be speculation, chances are strong that 3D Realms is sidestepping its more well known IPs for a brand new adventure this tie. Twitter seems convinced that the studio is about to publish an upcoming co-op FPS called Ripout. Take a look at the screenshot below and the steam asset and decide for yourself.

Assuming Twitter has nailed it, then this title from developer Pet Project Games will plunge horror fans into a procedurally generated sci-fi hellscape, where they will have to co-operate and fight through derelict ships full of monsters. The mutants that stomp crawl and slither through the abandoned halls of these hulking tombs have plenty to fear, however. You’ll be armed with a trusty Pet Gun and have access to a ton of configurable options while blowing away anything that gets in your way. Even if we’re all wrong, there are only a few weeks to wait and find out what 3D Realms is planning. If you want to find out more about Ripout, check the official Steam Store page now.
