Developer Triumph Studios and publisher Paradox Interactive have released the latest expansion for 4X strategy Age of Wonders 4. Titled Eldritch Realms, it offers the depths of the Umbral Abyss up for grabs for the Eldritch Sovereign, the new ruler type! The expansion also offers mighty new tomes of magic, world-altering global events, and more.
Players who purchase the expansion can enjoy 2 new Story Realms, 2 new Forms (Syron & Insect), as well as 2 new Beetle mounts. Additionally, Eldritch Realms introduces the new class of global events: the Cosmic Happenings Event system. It is designed to bring forth exciting and unpredictable events:
“The happenings include 4 mini crises events, called the Toll of Seasons, featuring unique tactical maps, units and mechanics – completing these events will grant the ability to transform one of your heroes into a scourge of their own.”
But that is not all! There are 5 new premade Rulers, 2 new Realm Templates, 3 new Realm Traits, a new Interface Skin, and 6 new music tracks as well. Age of Wonders 4: Eldritch Realms is available now. Note that the expansion is not a standalone and requires the base game in order to be played.
In addition to the premium DLC, players also received the free Mystic Update:
“This Free Update, available to all owners of Age of Wonders 4, brings a rework of the Mystic Culture which introduces three Subcultures as School of Magic. Venture into Unknown Realms, with the support of your improved armies, and earn more Pantheon Points with rebalanced and new actions that reward Pantheon XP.”
