Sega’s Original Master System Mascot, Alex Kidd, is getting a comeback in the upcoming Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX across PC and console platforms.
Just unveiled by the teams at Jankenteam and Merge Games, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is an awesome looking remaster and expansion of the old school platforming game. Due to jump onto PC, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2021 it promises a mix of the pixel play that you might remember with a new ambitious adventure.
The trailer that dropped with this announcement shows off some of the potentially upgraded graphics that players can experience in this 2D platformer, as well as some of the in game features that will come bundled with this DX revision. As well as modern, and retro, graphics modes the developers promise a range of new modes. Have a glimpse of the upgraded graphics yourself in the trailer above. You’ll note, that this includes a boss rush system, extra levels, and extra story elements to the game. The obvious tweaks to combat, movement and performance can be expected and all in this looks like a great return for a game that still holds memories for many of us old gamers.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX was announced as part of IGN’s Summer of Gaming Event and is a throw back to the Sega Master System. Originally released in Japan on November 1, 1986, and internationally in 1987, Alex Kidd in Miracle World was supposed to be Sega’s answer to a certain Italian plumber. Turns out though that even after bundling a copy of Alex Kidd with the Master System II, Sega ultimately went team blue. Frankly, I can’t wait to check it out when it arrives and will be heading over to Steam to wishlist Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX right now.
