An Amazon Driving Game is coming. The publisher has has announced that UK Games Studio Maverick Games will bring an unnamed open world driving title to the online giant’s garage of games.

Adding to the likes of New World, Lost Ark, Blue Protocol, Throne and Liberty, Tomb Raider, and an upcoming Lord of the Rings MMO, an as yet unannounced gasoline fuelled adventure is coming to the Amazon games label. The internet retailer turned Twitch owner and games publisher has confirmed that it will bring a top tier AAA driving title to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While we don’t know a whole lot about the road ahead, or even the launch date, we know the development team has some appreciable pedigree.

Maverick Games, based in Warwick, United Kingdom, will bring the race to life. Founded in 2022, this outfit was established by several of the core team behind the critically acclaimed open-world racing game series Forza Horizon. Studio head and creative director Mike Brown is the former creative director of the Forza Horizon franchise. During discussions with Amazon, the lead touted an exciting prospect for players.

“We founded Maverick Games with a clear vision: to build a developer-first studio that would foster an environment of creativity and risk-taking,” said Brown.

More that this, Brown’s team now includes experience on Sea of Thieves, Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty, and more, and an Amazon interview piece reveals a little of what to expect. In a blog post, Brown added that the upcoming experience will be narrative in nature and add new layers of appeal to the overall journey. So, more than just getting over the finish line with friends. To get a look at the full interview, head over to the official blog.

For now, there is no full release date, and no further information. This Amazon driving sim joins a long list of upcoming titles, and at least a couple of these have been taking their time coming to market. Hopefully, any wait will be worth it for a new type of driving game that will do more than just be a copy of The Crew.
