Well, this certainly came out of left field overnight! It appears that Amazon leaked what could be one of the biggest stories of the year so far. It seems that a photo of a Nintendo Switch case emblazoned with the Overwatch symbol showed up online, though it has since been deleted. However, as we all know, nothing in the Interwebiverse is ever truly gone. More than a few folks on Twitter managed to screen-cap the picture where it now lives in infamy.
The images presented mark huge news for Overwatch as a franchise, for its fans, and for Blizzard Entertainment. This is the first inkling of any port of the team-based shooter to Switch. What, if anything, it means for other mobile platforms remains unknown. However, Blizzard has long been exploring the mobile space — of which Switch is a part — for its major franchises. It’s likely that we’ll hear more about the Switch version at this year’s BlizzCon in November.
