EA and Respawn Entertainment have announced that Apex Legends will be receiving a new update on November 1st. “Eclipse” will be released simultaneously on all platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Anchoring the Eclipse update is a new legend named Catalyst. She is a defensive Legend with “remarkable, almost magical, control over ferrofluid.” To showcase Catalyst’s abilities and playstyle, developers released a trailer. In it, viewers will see Catalyst and her coven of friends who have vowed to protect Cleo, the moon of Boreas. “But what happened next left her wanting answers that the crystals did not share.”
Catalyst is the first trans character to be added to the game. According to Games Radar, developers worked closely with both American NGO GLAAD and its trans employees. This was done to “ensure she respectfully represents the community.”
The team has plans to reveal more details of the Eclipse update, but will do so at a later date.
