Ash of Gods has released a new trailer prior to their March 2018 launch of the game. The video highlights the decision-based storytelling. Ash of Gods promises a different take on the narrative driven rogue-like. When your character dies in most rogue-likes the story ends, and you must start again, or back at your last save. In this game your character may die, but the surrounding story and events can carry on. How that happens is up to the player.
According to developer Aurum Dust every choice, big or small, affects the storyline of the game. A seemingly insignificant interaction can come back to haunt or help you later. What happens if the main character of the story dies part way through the narrative? How can you continue the adventure? You can find those answers in the game, says the studio.
Aurum Dust describes Ash of Gods as a turn-based RPG featuring constantly evolving storytelling with risks that truly affect gameplay. They also promise an extensive online PvP mode. Morally ambiguous options offer difficult choices with consequences.
The game touts the following features:
- Rogue-like Storytelling – Dialog choices matter, and events are larger than any one character.
- Multiplayer PvP and PvE Modes – Rated multiplayer with character and card unlocks.
- Intelligent AI – The game learns from playing against you.
- Hybrid Tactical Strategy – A mix of turn-based strategy and card-based RPG. The cards determine your strategy. Character classes determine battlefield tactics.
