Developer Larian Studios announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 stress test is now officially underway for Xbox, PlayStation and PC. If you’ve registered to take part on either PlayStation or PC, look out for an email from the devs with the details on how to join. For the Xbox Insider Programme, the stress application is now live in the Xbox Insider Hub.
Check out the official announcement for tips on testing cross-play, modded games, Xbox Series S split-screen co-op, and more.
“If you want to stay in the loop on all our news and updates, we’re now shouting into the void from even more corners of the internet. You might have noticed our slumbering BlueSky account is dusted off and now active. Then our Community Team took the next most natural step and joined Tumblr – because if the gang are going to star in a thousand slow-burn romance fics, we might as well be there to see it. In other news, some of you on PS5 might have accidentally stumbled into Patch 8 a little early – whoops! If you’re one of the few wondering what the heck is going on, don’t worry. You can roll back to Patch 7 by deleting and reinstalling the game. Full details here, click away. Think of it as a time-travel mechanic.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 – Patch 8 Major Additions Include:
- Cross-play – Baldur’s Gate 3 multiplayer will soon feature full cross-platform progression, including cross-play – just as the gaming gods intended. Once the update is live you’ll be able to invite your friends to join your cross-play lobby directly, regardless of platform and find available multiplayer lobbies with friends on other systems using the Larian Network.
- Photo Mode. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Photo Mode is a little like a photo booth that lets you set up pretty much any shot you’d like. This new feature introduces a whole slew of options to let you customise and edit your in-game photography, with various levels of freedom depending on whether you’re using it while adventuring, or during combat, dialogue, and cinematic scenes.
- 12 New Subclasses.
- Xbox Series S Split-screen co-op.
Of course, the game will also receive gameplay and QoL changes, combat fixes, some adjustments to modding and much more.
